How many of us would be willing to give up those we love the most simply because God asked us to? Sadly, most of us would not. We’re great at quoting “everything we have is a gift from God”, but when He dares to take back one of those gifts without our approval, we are nothing but nasty. Our little child is mowed down by a car and we accuse God of being an ogre. A loved one dies from a disease and our hearts are filled with hate towards the One who withheld healing. How dare we take such insolent attitudes towards the One who supplies our every breath? Just what does He owe us that we should feel authorized to treat Him as our debtor?

"Anna!" in 13 words.
You know, Anna, when someone's child is mowed down by a car, it's almost like the world operates on laws of averages, or probability. You can even use math to come very close to predicting how often a thing that can happen, will happen. Insurance companies do it all the time. Why do you suppose a willful act from a supreme being would be so predictable? And why would a loving God kill Betty, and let Bobby grow up to be a serial killer?
"Gifts" are not taken back without asking by civilized people. So are you saying it was a loan? Then it's not a gift.
Your god is a tricky one. He seems to want all credit for everything good that could happen in someones life but no responsibility for anything bad. It's almost like listening to a political party talk about the economy. Any time it went up, we did that, any time it went down it's market forces which are out of our control.
Just what does He owe us that we should feel authorized to treat Him as our debtor?
Because we are not pots or sheep or any other metaphor. We are thinking, feeling beings who are owed a certain amount of consideration simply for existing. This is the crux of my own faith's hatred for the Christian god; that he refuses to recognize us as beings of thought and feeling, that he is unfair and unkind, that he could have made paradise and chose not to (leave Adam and Eve out of it, punishing the child for the parent's crime is inherently unjust).
Any being, god or not, who can heal but refuses to is a sadist and a tyrant. Maybe I can't beat him but I'll willingly be damned rather than kneel before him.
I honestly don't understand this woman: She clearly views God as a jealous, capricious, deceptive tyrant, and she still chooses to worship him.
What kind of self-destructive masochist does that?
I had Anna pegged in the second sentence. At the risk of being politically incorrect, is Anna saying that god is an Indian Giver?
And yes, Anna, a god that does the things you describe is a douche and not worthy of worship.
She HAS to be a fake. HAS to be. Every post is "See what a dick God is? Now bow down."

Why would an omnipotent God ask? Does a cop ask you if you'd like to kneel down with your hands on your head while he's pointing the Glock 9 at you?

No, we either figure He doesn't exist or He does whatever He wants, independent of our wants or behavior - in which case, we might as well ignore Him.

Only someone jealous and abusivea truly toxic combination if there ever was onewould expect people to "give up" their loved ones.

Taking back gifts is theft. Expecting gifts to be returned or compensation for them would get you laughed out of court. That's because if you can't keep it, or if you have to compensate the giver for it, then it is, by definition , not a gift.
"How dare we take such insolent attitudes towards the One who supplies our every breath? Just what does He owe us that we should feel authorized to treat Him as our debtor? "
My friend's abusive mother tried using that argument in court. She was thrown in prison and ordered to pay damages for therapy, other abuse-related medical bills, and pain and suffering.
Um, just a nitpick: a debtor is one who is owed, not the one who owes a debt.
Learn what words mean before trying to use them, hm?

Would you stop postiing your drivel if god told you to?

"God, what you you trying to teach me by putting demons in my computer again?"

Which god? Is it Aphrodite? I might have difficulty resisting any of the fertility goddesses.
“Sadly, most of us would not.”
Sadly? My family is a lot more important to me than any gods.

This would be the perfect point to answer in kind to the fundies.
’It’s because deep down inside, you KNOW that there is no God, and it’s just random AND all your dedication to you faith has gained you no protections. Just wasted time.’
Confused?
