That's some thick-assed jean material if it makes a butt look bigger.
erin, I'm sorry you are kind of, like, stupid and everything, you know, but HELLO!!!!!!!!
Apparently in erin and other rape-apologists worlds rapists are just another facet of life. You know, sometimes it rains and you have to bring an umbrella, sometimes you wear tight jeans and you make sure and bring your rape-kit because who knows what the rapist index for the day is?
"girls go out today wearing jeans so tight it makes their butt look 10x bigger than what it really is just so guys will look at them and then when they get raped they wonder why. well hello!!!!!!!!"
You apparently know absolutely nothing about physics of the pants or why rapists really rape women. But that sure doesn't stop you from pulling out statements right out of your ass, all of them fallacious straw men.
"sorry if it was kinda you know but it's the pure truth."
Truth or bigotry, asshat? How can you be so sure you speak the absolute truth, when you are apparently so bloody ignorant and your assumptions have very little basis in reality?
No, it isn´t. Women have been raped in war, for example, and wore no jeans whatsoever. And your "truth" is that, if men are unable to control their lusts, your theory of the superiority of the male bites the dust.
But that sure doesn't stop you from pulling out statements right out of your ass
You'd be surprised how much easier it is to do that when you're not wearing super-tight extendo-jeans.
a.) Big butts are *so* not in style right now, so you'd think that would make one less of a rape risk, wouldn't you? b.) Is it SO COMPLICATED to try to conceive of the fact that rape is the fault of the rapist and not the victim? c.) Stop stealing my name, goddammit.
So the brainwashed bimbos over at T4C have stepped it up to rape apology and victim-blaming, have they?
Why am I not surprised.
OK, here's the problem with this from a Biblical standpoint:
1 Corinthians 10:13 reads "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so you can stand up under it."
So....the Bible states that God will never allow you to be tempted beyond your ability to bear it. Therefore, if you see a woman dressed provocatively and rape her, that was your own decision, since God said you can bear up under any temptation placed in your life.
Even the Apostle Paul, in the freakin' Bible itself blames the rapist, not the victim.
1. Rape is not about lust; it is about brutal domination. It is assault.
2. Rape is the fault of the rapist , not the victim.
3. Tight jeans would, if anything, compress one's backside, not make it look "ten times bigger" (which I am assuming was intended as hyperbole).
4. You can spout stupid, unreal B.S. and call it "pure truth" all you like, but it will still be stupid, unreal B.S.
~David D.G.
There's no correlation between rape and what the victim was wearing. Greek girls wear the same or, given the weather, probably a good deal less clothing than Canadian or Icelandic girls. The rape rate is 68 times higher in Canada and 23 times higher in Iceland than in Greece (Seventh United Nations Survey of Crime Trends and Operations of Criminal Justice Systems, covering the period 1998 - 2000) .
The majority of rapes are committed by people who knew the victim. The slavering pervert who grabs a stranger off the street is fairly rare. See Rape Myths
Erin should make some attempt to check her facts before declaring "it's the pure truth"
The entire conversation was inane and sad; a bunch of kids trying hard to fit into the 'good xtian' mold. Boys saying girls have to help boys stay moral by dressing modestly. Right. Rapist excuse #1 in the making here: She asked for it by .. wearing tight jeans!/mini skirt!/clothes!/covering her entire body with a black habit making me wonder!
I despise oppression, and it's alive and well in xtian youth.
Edit:
Erin could be trying to make herself feel safe; if she dresses in an approved "anti-rape" way then she will never have to worry about being raped. But futher in the thread she says (rather incoherently):
"so are you saying that if i think it's okay to wear jeans then i obviously want a guy to look at my body b/c that's what it sounds like to me. i dunno if that's what you meant or not but that's what i thought when i read it. and another thing........ like i said everyone is like stressing out that i as a girl need to help yall guys out by not wearing jeans and as i said before if i'm wearing really loose jeans and guys still lust after my butt then that's their problem and their sick. it's not my problem and i personally don't think that i'm doing anything to make a guy sin b/c i don't wear tight jeans so therefore as long as i'm not wearing my jeans tight i think that i'm not doing anything wrong b/c i'm not doing anything wrong to make a guy lust after me therefore as i said again it would not be my problem."
My brain hurts from her poor writing skills. I'm going to go lay down.
I feel offended that erin suggests men can't control themselves, and react like animals when some careless girl isn't wearing her burka. - Nedraed
Wearing a burka didn't help any of the women raped by American soldiers in Iraq, so there goes that theory.
Yeah, sucks that a girl can't rely on some guy controlling himself so as to NOT rape her.
I'm many moons old, and I can honestly say I've never raped someone due to some weird loss of sexual control. If I can avoid raping people, why can't others? :P
From a purely practical point of view, I'd think a rapist would have a much easier time lifting a burka than trying to get a girl out of some extratight jeans...
And as has already been said, rape is rarely really about sex, and the clothes the victim wears have no influence. In fact I remember reading that practicing nudists had a lowered sex drive, or at least a lowered sexual response to bare skin. Not sure how accurate that was, but...
Yes
It is completely the victims fault, they even have the warning on the jeans.
No, its obviously not the rapists fault, hes the victim in all this...
Noself >> @John: Does the rate of rape account for population differences? Those relative numbers honestly scare me.
The numbers are based on rapes per 1,000 of population. I don't know if anyone has a credible explanation for why there are big differences. They also may be exaggerated somewhat by a cultural willingness/reluctance to report rape. For example, Saudi Arabia is way down at the bottom. But given the way the law and even the woman's own family treat the victim, it's not surprising that a woman would keep her mouth shut about it.
Odd: when I'm around a girl wearing jeans so tight it makes her butt look 10x bigger, that has absolutely no effect on me.
In fact, most women feel perfectly safe around me.
Oh, damn: that's right -- it's because I'm gay !
This is an insult to women and men alike. It not only assumes that women who are raped were "asking for it" by wearing revealing clothes, it assumes that men who see who see a woman wearing those clothes will go out of their minds with lust and rape her. I'm male. I ABHOR rape. And when I see a scantily-clad woman on the street, I can look at her and even get turned on by her, and not even consider raping her. It's that sexist attitude that leads to raped women being ostracized by their families and rapists going free.
"then when they get raped they wonder why. well hello!!!!!!!!
sorry if it was kinda you know but it's the pure truth."
So, erin, in your opinion males are just rampaging raping beasts with no ability to comport themselves publicwise, no ability to not hurt and brutalize women and no ability to be a law abiding citizen if confronted with a woman exercising her right to wear whatever the fuck she wants?
It's the "pure truth" that you have no expectation that males can be good, decent human beings?
And somehow magically feminists that hate men?
Goodness.
"jeans so tight it makes their butt look 10x bigger than what it really is"
Now let me get this straight.
These jeans, which are tight-fitting and compress to the skin... Make girl's butts bigger?
Did you fail geometry or something?
AAAAAAAAUGH.
BTW, what is the reason for n/n?
It doesn't work, so can you please stop typing it? It hurts my eyes to read nice posts that have been ruined by n/n.
I'm sorry, but when I wanna sleep with a girl, its usually more than just her "tight jeans".
And yes, men are not savage beasts who's primary attempt is to have sex with every female.
- TORM
Very few rape (10% tops) cases involve provocativley dressed women. It's not an excuse even then, strippers have a higher than average occurance because they attract the rapist type who thinks of them as unreedemable sluts who are asking for it. Oddly enough, like you seem to think.
The pants don't make your Butt look bigger. That's definitely a girl concept, guys think it's the butt.
Nuns get raped.
80 year old women get raped, in their own homes.
Babies get raped (damned sexy diapers).
I hope that Erin has turned 18 since she made this past and has a little sense, now.
What causes rape is (mostly) violent men who think that women (and children) are all here for their benefit and aren't really quite human...and a lot of that attitude comes from religion.
I LOVE jeans on a woman....but rape? The thought doesn't cross my mind.
Oh yes, and "pure truth" is not something that one just makes up, although this is a concept that you fundies will evidently never understand. And THAT, dear heart, is the truth.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
