If God did not exist, why do we have the word in our language?

Gee, I don't know. He MUST be real because we have a generic catch-all word that means deity. Just like Jason Voorhees is real, the man in the moon, gremlins, hobgoblins, cooties, etc. Boy, you really nailed that one. No one has thought of that before. Huh, I guess god has just been proven true once and for all.
(rubbing forehead) ....you fucking moron
How can people be this stupid? Seriously?
Surely they must realise that we have concepts of things that don't exist. Even using fundie-logic, evolution or the gods of other religions should come to mind. Maybe it's just a bad case of doublethink.
I think my brain melted from trying to recreate the thought process that produced this comment.
Look, just because your Christianity hijacked the title of God as the name of YOUR God doesn't mean it's exclusively your word. That was the intent and it's worked on many Christians but God is a title refering to all dieties throughout history.
Your God is Jahovah last I checked. Using the God reference may have even been a reaction to Islamism as Allah means The God

List! What is yon sound in the distance? Why, it's the sound of every Professor of Theolgy and History in the world, laughing their tits off at you, palookamatoilet!
Yeah, ya see - why are there still words, then, huh?
Gotchas ya eevil evolationistical bastids, always praying to Darwin's Big Bang, and, and, and GRAVITY! Hah! Pwnd, I guess!
unicorns, fairies, dragons, Balrog, trolls, mermaid, minotaur, cyclops, harpie
do these all exist because there is a word for them ?
if zeus did not exist, why do we have the word in our language?
you could say this with anything and it would still make as much sense.
@Je suis Christ
Your username is French for "I am Christ."
Unless your first or last name is actually Christ (as I have seen before, actually), you appear to be trying to declare that you are THE Christ.
...You do realize that's blasphemy, right?
If Odin, Thor, Freyr, and Tyr didn't exist, why did we name three days of the week after them?

In that case, thank you for admitting that Princess Celestia is God then: Akhenaten was the first Brony when - via the 'Aten' - he pioneered Mono theism.
The Israelites basically ripped off his idea.
...so how about the 'non -existence' of a certain Alicorn then, o youlookinthetoilet? Because the same can therefore be said of a certain Abrahamic deity...! [/Invisible Pink Unicorn, FSM ]
Confused?
