I may not always like what the Bible says (take that whole love your neighbor thing - what was God thinking?), but I find it presents a clear and consistent picture of who God is and who we are and what the relationship is between him and us.

You're an asshole, your God is an asshole, and both of you need to DIAF.
"take that whole love your neighbor thing - what was God thinking?"
Simultaneously "fundie in a nutshell" and POE!
Not too shocking, though.
The fact the your idea of a god is that he is consistently an a**hole bastard is not a good thing, DK. Kiss my butt or be tortured for eternity may be the consistent message, but only a sh*thead lauds the source of that consistent message.
The relevant details that need concern you are:-
There is no god and it definitely does not exist.
The bible contains errors and is inconsistent.
There is no heaven and there is no hell.
There are no angels, demons and devils or satan.
The bible is immoral and unethical.
The bible is no use as a guide to anything.
The bible is a XXX tome.
Religions are vast edifices of monstrous evil.
Prayers and praying are completely ineffectual.
Religions contain massive reserves of stupidity.
Religions are huge repositories of cant and dogma.
Religion and hypocrisy are forever hopelessly entwined.
Fundamental Christianity is not a lover of humanity and is inhumane.
Christian fundamentalists display a remarkable degree of hatred and bigotry that they are unconcerned about trying to hide.
Christian fundamentalists have no tolerance of others outside of their cults.
Christian fundamentalists have neither liking, nor, indeed, a penchant, for logic, common-sense or factual evidence.
The bible is misogynistic.

Love ya, Pule.
Wtf? Of all the verses to be upset about in that book, "love thy neighbor" is NOT one of them!
So, yes, I'm hoping poe as well.
I actually had a fundie explain to me once that the "love your neighbor" thing doesn't mean what "liberal" Christians think it does. Since the complete phrase is "love your as yourself" this fundie informed me that it means a couple of things that "liberals" don't understand:
1. You should take care of yourself first. That's why the passage mentions self.
2. Since the verse mentions self, it means that you should only love neighbors who are like you and believe the same way you do.
Essentially, my fundie friend's interpretation is you put yourself first and after that help only other fundies.
I found the conversation to be slightly disturbing.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
