Muslim prayer in the education of the Catholic private-gymnasium

PI-NEWS has asked a theologian for an opinion on this affair. According to his view the following arguments are to be held against the proceeding of that school:

* A Catholic school is not allowed to proceed in opposition to the 1st commandment, which says clearly: "I am the Lord, you shall have no other Gods".
* "Allah is not the Christian God" - The God of the Qu'ran us a fully different God from the trinity of God as Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The Qu'ran says that Jesus is a prophet.
* The Bible says in John 14, 6: "I am the way to the truth and life, nobody come to the Lord but through me (Jesus)". Islam knows no baptism.
* In Book Daniël 3 the believers are clearly being asked, not to praise the Gods of Nebukadnezar and to prefer dying in a fire oven.
* Only the awakening of a proyer is in the truth of a child a participation to the prayer. To level this down to pure respect is something that straightens my hair that especially later in school life will be remembered by no one.

Further the following can be said:

* Many parents - especially those around 15km do put their kid with awareness to a Catholic school and expect for good reasons to raise their kid to the one Catholic faith. Who practices the equality of religions confuses the children and raises the kids - whether or not he wants it - to a world relativism far removed from religion. "If the Catholic school allows this, the faith in Allah can't be wrong and my faith loses its uniqueness and importance."

Atheists and agnostics would smile at this point, but we have to respect that to many people faith plays an important role. In the opinion of the author engaged conservative Christians win value and importance as counter pole to the always expanding Islam.

Muslimisches Gebet im Unterricht an katholischem Privat-Gymnasium

PI-NEWS hat einen Theologen um seine Meinung zu diesem Sachverhalt gebeten. Aus seiner Sicht sprechen folgende Argumente gegen die Vorgehensweise der Schule:

• Eine katholische Schule darf nicht entgegen dem 1. Gebot handeln, in dem es ganz klar heißt: „Ich bin der Herr dein Gott, du sollst nicht andere Götter haben neben mir.“
• „Allah ist nicht Gott im Sinne des christlichen Gottesbildes“ – Der Gott des Korans ist ein
gänzlich anderer als der Dreieinige Gott aus Vater, Sohn und Heiligem Geist. Der Koran billigt
Jesus lediglich zu, ein Prophet gewesen zu sein.
• Die Bibel sagt in Johannes 14, 6: „Ich bin der Weg und die Wahrheit und das Leben, niemand
kommt zum Vater denn durch mich (Jesus)“. Der Islam kennt keine Taufe.
• Im Buch Daniel 3 werden die Gläubigen ganz klar aufgefordert, nicht Nebukadnezars Götzen
zu huldigen und lieber den Tod im Feuerofen in Kauf zu nehmen.
• Allein das Aufstehen bei einer Gebetshandlung ist in der Wahrnehmung eines Kindes
eine Gebetsteilnahme. Dies zur reinen Respektsbekundung herabstufen zu wollen, ist
Haarspalterei, die vor allem später im Rückblick auf die eigene Schulzeit niemand so in
Erinnerung behalten wird.

Darüber hinaus ist aus weltlicher Sicht zu sagen:

• Viele Eltern – gerade aus dem 15km-Umland – schicken ihre Kinder bewusst an eine
katholische Schule und bezahlen hierfür immerhin auch Schulgeld. Sie erwarten zu Recht
von dieser, ihre Kinder zu dem einen, katholischen Glauben zu erziehen. Wer hier
Gleichstellung der Religionen praktiziert, verwirrt die Kinder und erzieht – ob er es will oder
nicht – zu einem religionsfernen Werterelativismus. „Wenn diese katholische Schule das
zulässt, dann kann der Glauben an Allah nicht falsch sein und mein Glaube verliert seine
Einzigartigkeit und Wichtigkeit.“

Atheisten und Agnostiker mögen an dieser Stelle schmunzeln, jedoch muss man respektieren, dass bei vielen Menschen der Glaube eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Nach Meinung des Autors gewinnen engagierte, konservative Christen als Gegenpol zu dem sich immer weiter ausbreitenden Islam zunehmend an Wert und Wichtigkeit.
