[on CA's ex-gay bill]
Similar bills may soon be introduced in New Jersey and a few other states. It’s the latest strategy of those who oppose biblical morality to portray high sexual standards as being mean and hateful. Good luck with that because most of America is starting to see how false and harmful the gay agenda is and it’s our youth who are particularly at risk. There are no words to describe how seriously evil this is. It can affect certain children in a make it or break it way.
Imagine you are the parent of a thirteen year old son who announces that he think he might be gay and wants to start daring other guys! You as a well-informed Christian know this is not the way he was born and that he could easily start down the road of spiritual, emotional and physical tragedy. But no counselor in California can now share this information with your son if they choose to follow this law.

"But no counselor in California can now share this information with your son if they choose to follow this law."
Good because it's absolute nonsense and not based on a shred of evidence or even reminiscent of reality.
Imagine you are the parent of a thirteen year old son who announces that he think he might be gay and wants to start daring other guys!
Jr.: "Hey, Dad, today I dared this kid on the playground to..."
Dad: "Faggot! Queerbait! Get thee to the back yard and fetch me a sack of big rocks to righteously punish you with. You are dead to me, you homo."
On the contrary, Linda. Most are seeing the pernicious nature of the fundie agenda, and its hunger for political power, even though generally are undereducated and utterly bigoted, and totally unfit for politics.
The fundie agenda is a Christian version of Shar'iah that seeks to control minds, determine education matter curricula, impose the bible as science and law. So it is harmful, especially for the youth of America who really need top-notch education if the US is to maintain its position in the world.
BTW, There is no Gay Agenda. There most certainly is a fundie agenda. Tea anyone?

Which is a good thing, because you can't just "pray the gay away." The only thing telling gay kids they need to change their evil sexual perversions does is result in low self-esteem and in some cases, suicides.
That would be a beautiful, beautiful thing. All the "ex-gay" bullshit just needs to go away.
It has no bearing in medicine and any mental health professional worth their salt wouldn't ever heed any of that garbage.
If parents really care about their child they wouldn't even think to tell them being attracted to the same sex was "emotional and physical tragedy." It only causes harm and there's absolutely nothing moral about it.
Perhaps you should have shown the legislature your research which shows that "reparation therapy" actually does something positive for the people it is inflicted on.
You do have such research, don't you?
Listen Harvey-don't you EVER mention my home state again. Your filthy ignorant mouth is unworthy to even speak it. Keep it up & I'll have our fatass governor fly to your house & sit on you. Then have you buried next to Jimmy Hoffa.
And for the last time-leave the gay people alone. Just leave them alone-you've done enough damage.
"Similar bills may soon be introduced in New Jersey and a few other states."
Good.
"Good luck with that because most of America is starting to see how false and harmful the gay agenda is and it’s our youth who are particularly at risk."
Yeah, they're all starting to see that which is why various forms of gay marriage are being accepted into law more and more often.
"There are no words to describe how seriously evil this is. It can affect certain children in a make it or break it way."
You're delusional.
"Imagine you are the parent of a thirteen year old son who announces that he think he might be gay and wants to start daring other guys!"
And?
"You as a well-informed Christian know this is not the way he was born and that he could easily start down the road of spiritual, emotional and physical tragedy."
Ah, that's where the problem is. I'm not a "well-informed Christian" (i.e., a bigot), which is why I wasn't sure where you were going with this.
"But no counselor in California can now share this information with your son if they choose to follow this law."
Oh, drat. You mean you won't be able to emotionally abuse people any more? Pity that.
Imagine you are the parent of a thirteen year old son who announces that he think he might be gay and wants to start daring other guys! You as a well-informed Christian know this is not the way he was born
It's amazing how easy these homophobes think it is to just decide to up and become gay. Oh and never mind the fact that any sane person is never going to choose to become gay. Not because there's anything wrong with it (there isn't) but because then they have to deal with the hatred and violence of ignorant bigots. There isn't really an advantage to choosing to be gay.
There is nothing at all moral about your bible, Harvey.
And you, as well as any other Christian, are in no position to call anything or anyone evil, false, or harmful. Especially since YOU are the ones preying on children, and using us as scapegoats.
"...he think he might be gay and wants to start daring other guys!"
"...he could easily start down the road of spiritual, emotional and physical tragedy."
Linda, have you ever watched a movie called 'Prayers for Bobby '?
Similar bills may soon be introduced in New Jersey and a few other states.
Good!
You "well-informed Christians" are the reason why gay teens start down the road of spiritual, emotional and physical tragedy.
Well, I'm not a "well-informed Christian" (hehehe, oxyMORON), but my answer would probably go like this:
Me: "Ok, then tell me when you know
oh, and son?"
He: "Yeah, dad?"
Me: "Don't date assholes."
It’s the latest strategy of those who oppose biblical morality to portray high sexual standards as being mean and hateful.
There's nothing wrong with having high sexual standards. By all means, remain a virgin until marriage, marry someone of the opposite sex, be monogamous, reject birth control, do it with the lights off in the missionary position and pray for forgiveness afterwards.
That's not mean and hateful. Telling everyone else what to do and calling them names and trying to get the law to enforce your opinions on others is.
Good luck with that because most of America is starting to see how false and harmful the gay agenda is and it’s our youth who are particularly at risk.
Hahahahahahaha! That's rich! In reality, people are starting to see that the only "agenda" gay people have is to be treated fairly. More people support gay marriage now than ever before. We've also seen how harmful trying to "cure" homosexuality is. In fact, more and more people are starting to wake up and see you and people like you as the lying, hateful bigots you are. You've lost, bitch.
If it weren't for the fact that there are obviously a lot of well-informed Christians in the world* and it'd be insulting to them, I'd love to make "well-informed Christians" a eupehmism for "complete imbecile."
"Hey, did you hear what happened to Ted?"
"Yeah, he tried to 'fly' by attaching a bunch of bottle rockets to his pants. What a well-informed Christian!"
*though I'm sure they wouldn't refer to themselves as such because a) they likely don't consider Christianity their defining characteristic and b) they likely aren't narcissistic enough to label themselves as "well-informed," especially in such a smug manner
"High sexual standards" makes it sound like you just refuse to date anyone who is gay. You don't get to hold other people to your sexual standards. It doesn't work like that. What you really mean is you're upset that there are people who call your behavior liek it is: imposing your bigoted beliefs on other people.
"most of America is starting to see how false and harmful the gay agenda is"
Statistics say otherwise.
"it’s our youth who are particularly at risk"
of being emotionally damaged by your bigoted beliefs.
"There are no words to describe how seriously evil this is."
Translation: I think gays are icky and people don't like me harassing them, therefore those people are evil.
The whole second paragraph - translation: Counselors in California should be able to treat gay youth in a way that is likely to make them suicidal because that aligns with my religion.
My 13 year old son is bisexual. So what? If he wants to date a guy or a girl he likes, that's fine with me.
Ya know why? Because I want my child to be happy, and have a fulfilling life, that's why. I don't put some ancient (and stupid) book of rules ahead of my love for my son.
Moron.
When I came out, I found myself in a therapy session with both my parents. And my mother, as though I wasn't in the room, asked my therapist
"Well how do we get him over it? Can we send him to camp or something?"
I was, thankfully, 18 at the time. A little younger and I wouldn't be posting here--I'd be dead or fucking broken.
This doesn't prevent medical professionals from treating a disease, it prevents ruinous forms of abuse.
"Imagine you are the parent of a thirteen year old son who announces that he think he might be gay and wants to start daring other guys!"
Ok, I'm queer and although I have no kids, I IMAGINE I'd say something like, "I'm your mother and I love you. All I ask is that you respect yourself by being careful, dating people who treat you right, and not listening to the vile word-vomit that spews from the mouths of false-Christian shitweasels like Linda Harvey."
Confused?
