How people who claim to be Christians can have such a soft spot for people that God burned up and commanded to be put to death is beyond me.

For a minute there, I kept misreading this as 'How can so many people who claim to be Christians have such a soft spot for that God who burned up and commanded others to be put to death? It's beyond me.' so it took me a while to figure out how this was fundie.
Apparently I have an ignorance filter when I'm really tired. And a grammar filter.
That website has more hate and evil than I have read in a long time, it is easily the equivalent of Stormfront or something like that.
"With any luck, some radical will blow up the gay school" Yeesh.
Sooo...
Human capacity for compassion and forgiveness > God's capacity for compassion and forgiveness
=>
Humans > God
You're not doing your cuckoo religion any favors here, y'know.
Gotta love that good ol', down home, christian love. Ain't nothin' like it. If you're one of us, we'll love you to death, and if you're not one of us, we'll burn you to death. Either way, prepare to die.
"Yet another reason I am not a Christian. Not too much because of people like this. Not too much because of how he said it. But because this IS Christian doctrine and it is vile."
Wellll... Saying this IS christian doctrine is like saying the bible doesn't contradict itself. It's one way you can go with the scriptures, I'll grant you that. I'm sure there are plenty of christians who would vomit upon reading that filthy website too.
I agree with Illuminatalie... while I disagree with bigoted fundamentalistic religion and inability to connect with the real world, and while I understand that religion has caused many problems and been the source of much suffering, religion itself is not a bad thing...
@scubajesus: by nature of its unsupportable beliefs, ongoing perpetuation of rancor, hostility and bloodshed, and because it does violence to the human intellect, religion is, indeed, a bad thing.
@Old Viking and scubajesus:
Religion doesn´t have to be a bad thing, but it definitely has never been, is or ever will be a good thing. Sometimes it´s harmless and sometimes it brings hatred, death, ignorance and destruction. So it is mainly negative, yes.
It's like Germans having a liking for those damned Jews when they know Hitler killed six million of them.
Yeah, it boggles the mind for sure.

I agree. Religion is like communism. In theory a good thing, but because of the tendency of humans to use it to gain power over other humans or claim superiority over them, it is all to often abused. Of course the fact that the abrahamic religions don´t have a message that is 100% peaceful, but rather share a lot of stories of an extremly cruel and warlike god as part of their holy books doesn´t really help to prevent the abuse of these religions for violence.
This woman is a revolting, despicable human being. I mean, wishing for a school to be bombed?!! Who the fuck does that?! That's pretty extreme, even for a fundie.
Looks like she's made the blog private now.
Bloody murderous psychopath.
This makes me think of all those biblical injunctions to stay away from 'man's wisdom'; science, philosophy, and the like. Because if you do, this is the way you end up. A hate-filled, bigoted, idiot.
The full version of the biblical quote is against people who conceal the truth.
The way I read it is that it's rebuking people like Raani, saying (s)he'll become "... filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless."
Sounds spot on to me.
Confused?
