I’m a woman, and I’ve voted in every election since 1976, but I would gladly give up my right to vote if it meant we would get more presidents like Ronald Reagan and not be saddled with any more Barack Øbamas.
After the 2008 election, someone did a statistical analysis (I wish I’d saved the article) which showed that demographic shifts were responsible for Øbama’s victory. Certain demographic groups can be counted on to vote certain ways (e.g., married men with children vote Republican, single mothers vote Democrat, etc.), and their voting patterns stay remarkably consistent over the years. What has changed is the distribution of those groups. Back when Ronald Reagan was elected, we had more married people with children (who tend to vote Republican) and fewer single women with children (who vote about 99.9% Democrat). Over the years since then the numbers have shifted — marriage is down, broken homes are up, illegitimacy is up, and of course so is immigration, which has skewed the numbers to favor Democrats. If we could somehow bring back the culture of marriage and family formation, and decrease the incidence of family breakup and illegitimacy, that alone would go a long way toward solving the problem. But I don’t suppose that’s any more likely than repealing the 19th Amendment. Sigh—

Bob? Odd name--Is your husband named Sue, by any chance?
Who is "Øbama"? Some Danish guy? Why are right-wing nutjobs incapable of typing out Obama's name right?

More alzheimers addled presidents please.
a woman called bob? i dont buy it.
And aren't you in a nation that declared its independence over taxation without representation.
Women pay taxes in america last i checked.
I mean. If you want to go against the idea of your independence...
Listen, britain's kinda in a bit of a bind right now.. So how about we cut you a deal, we'll revert sovereign powers back to the monarchy and you can go back to being british colonies again. We get the clout to survive brexit and you can go back to placing your trust in the divine right of royalty to look out for your interests.
Liar!
My parents are still married & both of them despise republicans with almost as much venom as I do, & that's quite impressive considering my opinion of the GOTP. The demographics are changing, rapidly, & they do not favor the GOTP. There are simply not enough angry old white guys left to sustain the party. Good riddance.
@ darkevilme- I don't want to be a British colony. Oddly enough, I happen to be in 1 of the original 13. You chose to leave the EU; now you just have to weasel your way back in. Good luck!
You forgot the fact that minorities and Latinos, who have grown since the time of Reagan ALMOST NEVER vote Republicans. If you are going to spell bullshit, at least do your homework, instead of using stereotypes
"Why are right-wing nutjobs incapable of typing out Obama's name right?"
Safety reasons. If you write his name three times he appears and whisks you off to a fema camp to get gay married against your will before having your hard earned money given to minorities and unwed mothers
@TimeToTurn
"Who is "Øbama"?"

"Back then", whenever "then" was in your personal fantasy, parties had a platform of things they were for and things they were against. I'm not saying they stuck to the script, but they did at least have a to-do list that served as a guideline for voting choices. Guess what? They still do that. But the platform issues are renegotiated every four years, and they do not stand for the same things as they did "back then", and that's true for any "then" you care to name.
People who make their choices do not have the same choices available to them. That alone invalidates any predictive power that your statistics might have. The only way to make a social change that involves individual choices, such as marriage and family, is to make that choice yourself. Yup, one couple at a time.
BTW, what has Obama done that makes all the conservatives shit themselves whenever they mention his name? "Being black while in the Oval Office "? What else has he done that affects you? Nope, same-sex marriage doesn't count unless you're in one.
I love how naive these folks are, with this childish notion of how voting blocs should work and how politics in general go.
My family have been staunchly Democrat for three generations. My grandpa on my mother's side was a union construction worker and my grandma on my mother's side was a housewife, married for over 50 years. All seven of their children were Democrats, and those who got married stayed married. All those children, so far as I know, also Democrats. But we don't fit Ms(?). Bob's idea of an actual American because we're Hispanic. Never mind we're assimilated as fuck. Also, my father's family hates Reagan like Evangelicals hate gays and the Devil, because my father's father was an army veteran who was a POW in Korea. He came home sick and mentally scarred, and relied on the VA for help. Then Reagan cut benefits and led to a decline and death. Reagan killed grandpa and we all treat him with contempt.
@Darkevilme
Can you at least annex California? I promise we're useful economically, we make a way better vacation spot than Blackpool, Brighton, Hove, Bognor Regis and Benidorm combined, and I swear getting us to vote Labour will be easy. I'd already vote Labour right now if I could.
@Kanna
"BTW, what has Obama done that makes all the conservatives shit themselves whenever they mention his name? "Being black while in the Oval Office "?"
This started with Bill Clinton. Whenever he took a pee or picked his nose the conservatives would start pants shitting.
It went into high gear in 2008 when Obama won, because yes, he is black. There were lots of videos from that year of cons having emotional breakdowns over a nigger in the White House. They seemed to think this was as plausible as a gerbil winning the election. It violated the laws of nature somehow.
@ PETF(People eating tasty fundies)
No, Alice was in the park in San Francisco, telling 'Dirty' Harry Callahan "I can take a dare."
The Right Wing morality is hemorrhaging in divorces and deadbeat dads and has been for decades. The economy tanks under every Republican Whitehouse since the sixties. The most Republican states have the highest illiteracy, teenage pregnancy, porn consumption, government and official fraud and theft and the worst business and economic records.
Nice try at damage control bitch.
It's a dead giveaway the shit's gonna fly when they invoke Saint Ronney and this shill didn't fail to go full retard.
I’m a woman, and I’ve voted in every election since 1976,
Why is your name Bob? The following statement tells me more that your username really reflects your gender.
but I would gladly give up my right to vote if it meant we would get more presidents like Ronald Reagan and not be saddled with any more Barack Øbamas.
As for the rest of your post, it's just like your article, lost.
Ronald Reagan?
The guy who ran on a promise to balance the budget but tripled the debt?
The guy who saw 29 members of his administration convicted of crimes?
The guy who thought trees caused more pollution than cars?
The guy who cut and run after our Marines were bombed in Beirut?
The guy who once failed to recognize a member of his own cabinet when he met him in public?
We need more presidents like him? Why?
...
Sure, I suppose you intend for us to believe your name is Bobarella? Boberta?
Or were you hoping we were all such fucking lemmings we wouldn't even put two and two together?
Say hi, to bob the woman!
Not bobbie or bobbi, just bob.
G.I.R.L?
Why is there a slash in the O in Obama? Is "bob" saying Obama's Scandinavian or that his real surname is Bama?
As of several hours ago - now that Michael 'Brutus' Gove has been knocked out of a certain leadership campaign - we're now guaranteed a second woman Prime Minister from September of this year to 2020 at the most.
Theresa May . Andrea Lead som(e).
They're Conservatives , so enjoy your paradox, bob.
...and the inferior subhuman retard* returns again, with a different screename. Which he still refuses to register. I wonder why ...?!
