They're Perfectly True!
[Re: Were the Pyramids built before or after the flood?]
It is evident that they were built post-flood, for any Egyptian civilization (and the people that created it) would have been washed away.
That simple answer is not really all that simple under the hood, however, for it flies in the face of common dating schemes applied to the Scriptures such as Archbishop Usher's view that the earth was created in 4004 BC.
While I admire those who have worked elaborate dating schemes based on the genealogies in Genesis, those schemes do not seem to reflect the reality of our world in complete accuracy. That is not to take away one iota from the Scriptures -- heaven forbid! They are what they are and record what they record, but to date based on the published dates takes into account many an argument from silence and assumes that the Scriptures are the ONLY source of knowing anything, which we know is un-true. Once we see all things clearly, we will realize that the Scriptures are perfectly true but that they simply have not told us EVERY detail that we would need to know to actually date the earth based on their contents.

Christian, and wrong, but not 'fundie'. According to real hardcore fundies, if you accept that the Biblical dating scheme (by which they mean Ussher's generation-count) isn't completely literally true, you open the door for 'old-earth' creationism, which is heresy. Heresy!
Once we see all things clearly, we will realize that the Scriptures are perfectly true but that they simply have not told us EVERY detail that we would need to know to actually date the earth based on their contents.
God only helps those that help themselves.
There might be hope for this one. He's at the stage where he realizes that vast portions of the Buybull don't make sense but he's still trapped in the mindset that any contradictions seen are just an error, or inability to comprehend, on his part. If he keeps this up he might finally realize the truth; there was no Flood and the Buybull is fiction.
The con men who "wrote" the bible by cherry-picking existing religious scams were not as stupid as Usher. For one, they never tried to do what he did. For another, they wrote in ambiguities a.k.a. loopholes. Noah allegedly lived, 600 years was it? Or was that Moses? Then there was Methuselah who was claimed to be 1,000. The implication of that longevity exaggeration bullshit makes it impossible to do what Usher did and not be a "selective literalist", an oxymoron or a moron of some kind anyway. In that way, glfredrick's version of the closed-loop delusion actually makes more sense than Usher's.
assumes that the Scriptures are the ONLY source of knowing anything, which we know is un-true.
HERETIC! BLASPHEMER! BURN THE HERETIC!!!!
Could have fooled me, since most fundies believe that if reality is in conflict with the bible, then reality is wrong.
"While I admire those who have worked elaborate dating schemes based on the genealogies in Genesis, those schemes do not seem to reflect the reality of our world in complete accuracy."
Yeah. No shit it doesn't.
"That is not to take away one iota from the Scriptures -- heaven forbid!"
So, what you're saying is that they're wrong, but that doesn't mean they aren't right? Is that it?
"Once we see all things clearly, we will realize that the Scriptures are perfectly true but that they simply have not told us EVERY detail that we would need to know to actually date the earth based on their contents."
Yes. Unfortunately they leave out all of that useful information about radiometric dating, dendrochronology, ice core sampling, the geological column and common fucking sense.
There are four kinds of things in the Bible: myth, history, poetry, and parable. Understanding the difference is vital to a person who claims the Bible to be perfect in some way.
You don't read Jesus's parables and come out of it believing that the kingdom of God literally IS a mustard seed, or read Psalm 22 and believe God literally HAS forsaken us, so why do you believe that a story that does not in any way match with what we know about the time frame involved must be literal history?
They are what they are and record what they record, but to date based on the published dates takes into account many an argument from silence and assumes that the Scriptures are the ONLY source of knowing anything, which we know is un-true.
Not especially fundie - this is essentially what most Christians believe: the Bible is a source of spiritual guidance, not a science or history book.
"While I admire those who have worked elaborate dating schemes based on the genealogies in Genesis, those schemes do not seem to reflect the reality of our world in complete accuracy.."
Why is it that fundies are always so close to getting at the truth, but somehow always manage to steer clear of it at the last moment?
It's funny how people who accept the Bible literally always find themselves jumping through hoops trying to answer questions which do not present themselves when you accept the Bible for what it is - bullshit and fairy tales.
The earliest pyramids in Egypt date back to 2650 BCE with the best known pyramid, the Great Pyramid of Khufu (or Cheops) being completed around 2560 BCE.
Strangely enough, the Egyptians, no strangers to floods, completely didn't notice this global flood that supposedly took place around this time.
Come on man..you actually think that all the human sub races "black, chinese, white, etc..ALL came from a family of 8 hebrews?
LISTEN TO WHAT YOU ARE SAYING! You are saying that the other races mutated from Hebrews in roughly a few hundred years?!?!?!
Why isnt there new human races just still popping out and more and more???
BECAUSE THE ARK IS BULLSHIT!
It goes wrong from the first three words. Nothing of the sort is remotely evident. What is evident is that you need to be batshit insane in this day and age to believe the crap in the bible. It has been debunked more thoroughly than the flat earth scenario, and it takes a special kind of blind idiocy not to see it.
I am always surprised that people still go through all these mental gymnastics to justify their ridiculous beliefs. Shouldn't there be more people who realize, wait a minute, this is just too ridiculous to be true, I probably have been barking up the wrong tree.
This is promising. It's promising because it's acknowledging there are sources of data outside of Bible, and that they should be taken into account; in other words, it's acknowledging that there's such a thing as reality and that it bears further investigation.
It's such a glorious thing, witnessing a spirits first baby steps outside its crib, when it's just coming to realize that there _is_ a world outside the crib. I'm happy that this one seems determined to examine it, rather than deny it ever exists and suck its thumb as many do.
Well, good luck to you, glfredrick.
Confused?
