[Is oral sex really sex?]
Oral sex is sex and can pass sexually transmitted diseases.
This is a leading cause of oral and throat cancers in young people today.

Yeah this isn't really fundie. Recall:
1. Yes, a blowjob is technically sex because one person gets their rocks off.
2. Yes, you can get STDs by blowing people.
3. I thought smoking was the leading cause of oral cancer. Either way, even if this is untrue it ain't fundie.
4. It also sometimes blows the perception of many fundie teens wide open; many teens who've taken a vow of virginity resort to oral and anal sex (as long as its not vaginal its O-AK!!!).
Throat cancers? Really?
Citation needed.
Actually, uh, that's partially accurate.
But oral and throat cancers (usually from HPV) don't crop up that quickly -- usually they take decades to develop.
As far as I know, there has only been one study that states this. I would prefer to remain skeptical about such conclusions.
The operative words would be "leading cause."
1) There are more kinds of sex than just old PiV, y'know.
2) Yes, it can pass on some STDs, like HPV. Which is why you should use a condom.
3) It's unlikely that's it's the leading cause, but all the more reason to use a condom to protect from HPV.
Malkavian Jeff wins an internet and a first class limo ride to hell...
On a secondary note. Oral and throat cancer is mainly caused by smoking. I have no goddamn idea how oral cancer is caused by putting stuff into your mouth. I really don't.
Guys, before you shout "wrong but not fundie," you really need to consider the subtext. Just because something doesn't come out and scream "YOU'RE GOING TO HELL IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE THIS!" doesn't mean it's not fundie.
In this case, we have a site that purports to teach kids about sexual health, but it mentions God repeatedly and is, in fact, wholly dedicated to spreading "sexual health according to Jesus." It may not be in this one quote, but just take a look at the subtext of it. WHY are they so bent on keeping kids away from oral sex?
"This is a leading cause of oral and throat cancers in young people today." WRONG, but it may be a cause of oral and throat cancer in people who were young many years ago. If the preliminary studies are verified, we should not be surprised that chronic HVP infection could do this. I suspect the CDC is looking at changing the HVP vaccination recomendations to include boys as well as girls. If and when this happens, expect to see opposition from Christian groups on the grounds that it encourages sinful behavior.
'This is a leading cause of oral and throat cancers in young people today.'
BULLSHIT. Chewing tobacco & smoking causes oral & throat cancers, dipshit.
He's not that off the mark. Oral can transmit HPV, which can lead to cancers in much the same way it can lead to cervical cancer.
Not convinced it's the leading cause, but whatever.
This does not seem to be fundie to me.
Oral sex can transmit many STDs. In particular, it can transmit human papillomavirus, as others have noted. Oral sex is approximately as likely as vaginal sex to lead to HPV infection.
Wikipedia informs that 25% of cancers of the mouth and upper throat are caused by HPV infection, enough that it could be classed as a "leading cause", especially in non-smokers.
So, without context, this is not fundie.
Confused?
