He's a Presbyterian Christian. A Conservative one, too.
Yet, even before then, he'd gained a Ph.D from MIT in 1963.
He can reconcile his Christian beliefs & faith with Reality. He has a unique perspective on more than just this world, certainly one that nobody else thinks they have the right to question. After all, the last one who did, got decked by Dr. Aldrin.

The very Biblical - and Protestant - Church of England have no problem with the Reality of Evolution via Charles Darwin, otherwise they wouldn't have buried & memorialised him in their central place of worship, Westminster Abbey, nor would the head of the C-of-E, Queen Elizabeth II (Defender of the Faith' and all that jazz) have authorised the Royal Mint/Mail from issuing the £10 note/£2 coin& stamp set with Darwin's image on such, even though she has final power of veto over any potential design for issue. Even the RCC had to ultimately admit that not only was Galileo right, they were forced to admit the Big Bang is Reality too; not only is the universe expanding, but is accelerating. Their perspective is too Reality-based for Fundamentalist Christainity's own good (certainly here in the UK, as well as the rest of Europe; Czech Republic: the least religious country in the EU).

Because when even your own supposedly 'Omniscient' God's own 'perspective', certainly via his literal 'Word' is inferior to that of his creation (I refer you to the very Conservative Christian Dr. Buzz Aldrin), then need I say more about the Creation being superior to the 'Creator'? [/Judges 1:19; Challenger IIs, M1 Abrams, Leopard IIs...!]

You fail. For two reasons:
1- Remember: 'Hell' is purely a mistranslation of the Hebrew word '[I]Sheol[/I]'; no mention of 'burning' there. And when one considers that - and the New Testament was drawn up in the early days of the Roman Catholic church; the Council of Nicea - in the Old Testament, the verbatim word 'Hell' appears a grand total of... zero times. Remember that word (from CARM forums) 'Eisogesis', well that's what you fundies are doing, re. 'Hell'; Eisogesising with something that doesn't exist; as if not in the OT, and therefore with the purely man-made - and Catholic at that - NT, therefore...!
...and remember what Revelation 22:18-19 says about adding to the Bible? Well, if your 'God' inspired the Catholics with the NT, then I'm afraid that God himself will be going to... oh yes, that's right: Hell doesn't exist, and neither does your 'God', thus you're fucked for a start, re. doctrine; the paradox of a 'Hell' not being in the OT, and the NT being Catholic-created and all, therefore...! >:D
2- Jonathan Edwards. Long-time Christian turned Atheist. Yet, will be going to Heaven regardless, via those four magic letters: OSAS. And don't forget the magic loophole in Romans 11:30-32. As per God letting in even non-religious Jews into Heaven, due to their Disobedience - bypassing your J-boy, thus destroying the cornerstone of fundie Christain octrine: John 14:6; 'No one comes to the Father except through me', yet Rom. 11:26-32 contradicts that, therefore destroying fundie Christainity. And as Atheism & Homosexuality are 'Disobedience' too, then that's we at FSTDT sorted then; no 'non-existent 'Hell' (actually the not-hot 'Sheol') for us, so I'm afraid that's your infecting this place rendered pointless, as we are going to Heaven; your own 'God' says so in his own literal word, with no 'Interpretation' allowed. So bye-bye, and don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out, dearie...!
