The more we rebel against God, the more illusions He feeds us. Humans in this world think they are getting away with defying God. Wow. Did they miss the memo about Hell? Suppose you steal a dollar out of your father’s wallet. Thirty seconds later, he bursts into your room, rips the dollar out of your hand, and beats on you with a baseball bat nonstop for the next eight months. Would you consider yourself victorious? Not hardly. And yet right now there are countless humans and demons who think they are so clever for spitting in God’s face, even though somewhere in their brains they know that He sees everything they’re doing and that He is going to punish them for all of eternity. It doesn’t matter how many years you live on this earth—stacked up against all of eternity, your time down here shrinks down to a millisecond. How stupid do you have to be to think that lipping off to God for a millisecond is worth being tortured for all of eternity? God has been totally up front about what He plans to do to those who defy Him, yet we still defy Him. We’re crazy. Demons are crazy. It is utterly insane to think you can win against the God who holds your molecules together.

How exactly do you defy someone who determines everything you will do before you were ever born, including the very defiance they're going to gleefully punish you for?

As for your analogy about an abusive father: The moment I finally told Douglas Cochrane (may he roast forever in Hell if it exists) he had no right to make me a prisoner in my own home, knock me around, tear down my self esteem, deny me water, or treat my brother the same horrid way he'd been treating me during his visit and he beat me to a bloody mess - losing that sense of absoloute control that was so damned important to him - while screaming about what a homewrecker I was for daring to ever question him or why I would be punished without explanation, yes, it did feel like a victory. The first time I had ever actually challenged his sadistic domination he fell to fucking pieces before my eyes in a fit of violent rage over four words. In the brief seconds I was totally unafraid even as he bashed my skull into the very walls and in the aftermath weeks later when I realized how completely fragile he was that his virtual god-complex was the only think keeping him functional I knew I had finally won. He did not control me and no matter what outright torture he inflicted on me he did not scare me any more than the idea of continuing to live in such a way. He haunted my nightmares long after his suicide but I no longer live in them. If he never died? I'd like to think I'd still be able to look into his insane eyes, defiant to the very last as he tried desperately to re-establish his control over me in increasingly monstrous ways now that I've realized what a mess he actually was. The only thing that truly scares me is submitting to further torment out of fear or how easily I could be a similar monster from the experience.

I'd like to publicly acknowledge and thank KittyKaboom for listening to the sordid details of my life. It's made talking about it to others easier and I'm on a slow road to actually healing some of those wounds. Would a Troper mind putting her in the Heartwarming section? I seriously appreciate what she's done for me. SpukiKitty is no slouch with the fuzz therapy either.

Edited: Driving both my hate and my appreciation home. If Anna Diehl really had an abusive parent that spawned her beliefs and has gone through even half the shit I have I want her to stop living in nightmares as well.

Good ole' Yahweh, purposely misleading his creations with his godly powers and then punishing them when they fall for it.

More like a mixture of people who think he wants something else, aren't sure what he wants or just don't believe he exists in the first place.

Hard to miss it when it's all your god-slobberers can talk about. Not that I don't understand -- when one has literally no compelling arguments for one's case at all it's common for that one to fall back on scare tactics to avoid actual discourse and debate.

Really? The god you said purposely feeds us misleading illusions has been totally up front with us? Are you sure about that? What if it's just another ruse? A test of some sort? What if the test is one of character -- feeling people out to see who has the character to say "this is wrong, no matter who or what you are"? I doubt it (and not just because I don't believe he exists) but if you can't trust his word some of the time then you can't trust his word at any time.

The laws of physics, while important and powerful, are not gods. And at any rate we've been capable of splitting the atom -- of which those molecules are made -- for some 70~ years, now. Indeed we've become horrifying proficient at it. Anything he can build, we can destroy in the most devastating manner. I don't know how many HP he has but I'm pretty sure that we can probably spam nukes and X-Potions until he gives in. Just have to keep an eye on his kid and have a Phoenix Down at the ready in case he tries to interfere. Instant kill on undead, you know.

Sadistic maniacs lusting for blood, frothing like deranged lunatics, raging uncontrollably, giving vent to the most disturbed passions, dreaming of rending human flesh, having a Richter scale tantrum and drooling like a slobbering monster squirming with ecstasy at the though of sinking its teeth into you does not equal the word of God. It's the fantasy of a mentally ill psycho let loose on a computer keyboard who is not in pursuit of God but is revelling in his or her sadistic desires.

Let's face it, the movie playing in Anna's so-called mind is a full-on, never ending horror story. She has no interest in saving anybody's soul. She's just expressing her raving lunacy and probably not taking enough knock-out drops.

Why do I get the feeling that this analogy is a little autobiographical?
Ms. Diehl, there's nothing stopping you from getting professional help- it's not too late to find people who ACTUALLY care about you!

EDIT: I've actually gone onto the Pursuit of God Youtube Channel and found something disturbing. While a lot of her lectures are as badly illogical as her written screeds (e.g. what kind of sane God would view petty theft as equally sinful as child molesting?), they are significantly more tolerant and amiable, with some even being quite reasonable (e.g. acknowledging that women can be the spiritual leaders of their families and pointing out female prophets in the Bible).

Could it be that she's suffering from bipolar disorder or some other psychiatric disorder, causing her to swing from reasonable faith to fire-and-brimstone Calvinism? I ask this because it's very difficult to reconcile Diehl's speaking with Diehl's writing.

Is it out of fear? It can't be out of love, surely. It really isn't possible to love anyone ready, willing and eager to murder or torture you at the drop of a hat. Are you simply terrified that this is what he'll do to you if you DON'T? Do you hope that he'll remove whatever remains of your humanity when you die so that you're no longer capable of fear or empathy or pain? Or, whatever God exists help you, do you actually WANT to be transformed into a creature that finds the brutal torture of other people to be amusing and enjoyable?

Or is that what you are NOW?

If this is REALITY--that is, if there IS a God and an afterlife, you're right about his nature and his character and THIS is what he's like--then telling other people about it isn't a kindness to them. Imparting to them the certain knowledge that this is what's going to happen to them for all eternity, that the only way to avoid it is to endlessly supplicate themselves in terror to the Demiurge in the hopes that, when they die, they'll be taken to Its side where they'll be forced to WATCH endless brutality and horror for eternity until they finally lose their remaining humanity isn't doing them any favors.

The only kindness possible in that scenario is not telling them. Let them live their lives in whatever momentary illusion of peace they can find. They'll have all eternity to find out what **reality** really is without you poisoning whatever time they have remaining with the knowledge of the horror that awaits. Nothing they, or you, could possibly do after death can matter, because nothing we can do can change anything for the better. Let them live their lives. Tell them a happy lie or say nothing, because that's the ONLY ethical choice you, as a believer in this scenario, can make.
