a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous. Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, Or crookbacked, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken; No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire . . . he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries
Thanks for posting that - I'd forgotten it (then again, it's been donkey's years since I've read the bible and I've no particular wish to pick up the vile tome in the near future...)
It looks to me, according to this, that only absolutely perfect, unblemished individuals are welcome to approach this tyrant deity. So no short or long-sighted people, no-one with a birthmark or even a mole (or freckle?) - which I assume is what 'anything superfluous' would mean, take to the extreme - or a scar of any kind... Isn't that going to exclude, oh, I don't know, 99.9999(however many 9s is appropriate, I don't do numbers)% of everyone? Fundies too?
I will never understand why people would choose to acknowledge such a deity, let alone worship it...
