Drink is indeed a terrible demon, and it's amazing some of the people that you see in the stores here with bottles of wine in their carts. So-called "pastors" in some of the mainline denominations have apparently forgotten the Biblical teachings on alcohol and think it is acceptable to gorge themselves on wine. I will name no names but the local Methodist preacher frequently goes grocery-shopping at the same time as me and I've seen TWO BOTTLES OF WINE in his cart more than once.

Last year someone signed up Pastor K to a "Wine Appreciation Society" mailing list. I guess it was some kids who had heard him speak about temperance at their high school. A sick practical "joke": I don't know what passes for humor these days. Anyway, the wine society bothered him with letters for months, all of them promoting the evils of drink and lust. Amazing how people let themselves fall into sin...
