COLUMBIA, S.C. – A South Carolina Roman Catholic priest has told his parishioners that they should refrain from receiving Holy Communion if they voted for Barack Obama because the Democratic president-elect supports abortion, and supporting him "constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil."
The Rev. Jay Scott Newman said in a letter distributed Sunday to parishioners at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville that they are putting their souls at risk if they take Holy Communion before doing penance for their vote.
"Our nation has chosen for its chief executive the most radical pro-abortion politician ever to serve in the United States Senate or to run for president," Newman wrote, referring to Obama by his full name, including his middle name of Hussein.

Tax for women's clinics.
Thirded!
People will not be free until the last king has been strangled with the entrails of the last priest. Diderot.
"Priest, I hate them, I hate them so much," said in the voice of Eric Cartman
dg: Go easy on SC, it's my birth state...unfortunately...
And yeah, racism is rampant down there. When I was a baby, we lived in a KKK-infested town (Lexington, outside of Colombia) and my grandmother's "guy friend" is a proclaimed, quote, "nigger hater"...ugh.
I always find it interesting that the president who has presided over the biggest drop in abortion in the US was Bill Clinton (-33%). The uber-conservative Reagan presided over its second biggest _increase_ (+9.5%). Even Bush has seen it decline only part of one percent.
Seems to me what the country needs is a democrat to implement decent health and welfare policies to reduce the _need_ to have abortions...

HOORAY!
"referring to Obama by his full name, including his middle name of Hussein."
Who but a bigot would even care what a politician's middle name is.
Apparently, about 37% of the people in this yahoo's county voted for Obama.
If he wants a 37% drop in church attendance, he's going about it in all the right ways.
You know that this is an outright lie.
There is nothing in the bible about abortion.
There IS a.lot of baby and unborfn baby killing at god's command though. They are just making it up.
South Carolina
Enough said.
#816803: I consider myself both pro-life and pro-choice. I'd rather the baby be born, personally, but I recognize that I have no right to dictate what a woman does with something inside her own body, and if she chooses to abort it, I'd want it done as safely as we know how to do it.
Another reason to hate church.
Really, I have no problem with priests or nuns if they help the community and keep to themselves . I can't stand them when they say something like this.
Simple solution for the Sane Christian: Don't talk about poltics in church where they do not belong. Worship God in church as is proper.
Gah, why do preachers think they need to put on a fucking SHOW.
Oh...wait...Catholics...that explains it.
So, a vote for Obama means hell fire, but attending a church organization that has had many incidents of sexual abuse perpetrated by its priests against children is a one way ticket to heaven? Makes fucking sense.
A 106 year old nun voted for Obama and she lives in Rome.
This is not inline with the RCC, denying communion.
The Vatican does warn against voting against Pro-Abortion candidates but it also says, if you have another reason to vote for that candidate, than is allowed.
The Pope is also against the war in Iraq and the Death Penalty, it seems that these American Priests rule by their own rules not The Vaticans.
"Also, hes a nigger, and he belongs in the back of the bus with the Jews and the faggots. WHAT POWA!!!!"
he might not be racist, but then again, a lot of racists dont even necessarily realize theyre racist. for instance, i was REALLY racist when i was younger, and didnt even realize it. but when i got drunk, it all came out. it still does, in fact. i dont know why, nobody taught me to be racist, and i really cant remember a time when black people did something to me.
but i didnt vote for Obama, not because hes black, but because hes an idiot. we are TRILLIONS of dollars in debt, where the FUCK does he think the money for socialized health care is going to come from? hes freakin nuts. but at least he was 25% LESS nuts than McCain. not saying much, though.
The Vatican also opposes the war, the death penalty, and environmental pollution, so shouldn't anyone who voted for Obama OR McCain be denied communion?
As long as it goes for those that voted for McCain, too, since he reprents the pro-death-penalty, pro-war, anti-poor party.

The bishop of my diocese actually had the priests read off a letter about how abortion should be the primary issue when we vote. And he actually had the gall to claim that since he didn't actually name any candidates it didn't count as an endorsement. And he could probably worm his way out of it if he points to enough pro-life third-parties. Yeah, my family wasn't happy with that.
Confused?
