“This is my problem with higher education. It breeds pride and contempt with the lesser-educated, and makes those who get a degree, that they are more spiritual that the rest.”
You misunderstand the process.
They get an education. They do NOT say, “Me smart now, me better than you dullards, go away.”
They read the actual scripture they’ve been told about for so long. They read the history of the Bible and who made it. They begin to realize all the times they’ve been lied to, either intentionally or just by other victims that believe those falsehoods.
They try to share this knowledge, this new understanding. But people don’t liek to be told they’re wrong. THey accuse the students of pride, of contempt, of being superior, of flinging this knowledge around.
Like, if Med students tell their family, ‘you shouldn’t smoke, it’ll kill you’ and get told ‘Look at mr. Fancypants doctor!’
“Indeed, they pick apart Scripture and use it as if its a mere text book”
Well, some of their courses involve reading OTHER religious texts. And comparing. And knowing the fight over the content of the bible, which wsa between men, not gods.
“and not Holy, living, and active, and SHARP.”
Yeah, the more you know about it, the less holy it appears. Kinda like the more you know about Xmas gifts, the less magical Santa appears…
“They dissect God as if He is a specimen under a microscop. Indeed, there is no fear of God in them.”
Uh huh.
When Nietzsche said, ‘God is Dead!’ he meant that the fear of god no longer motivated most of humanity. Certainly not the edumacated.
