(just picking few pearls from a great article)
This is the fallacy of bifurcation (false dilemma). Some secular astronomers argue that there are only two options: steady state and big bang; steady state cannot justify the cosmic microwave background, so they conclude the big bang must be true. But, of course, there is a third alternative: the Bible is true.

How about the one written by the God who actually created the universe, knows everything, never makes mistakes, and never lies?

Actually, every experiment we perform demonstrates the truth of the Christian worldview, and the falsehood of others, such as Buddhism and Hinduism.

1, The bible has as much truth as the end of the world being due to a giant wolf...
2. If the bible is 100% right. Then God cannot fight us. With our iron...
3. I don't think you can beat hinduism. Its inclusivity ensures it cannot be disproved. It never claims your god does not exist. There are many ways to enlightenment. Which is a fairly nice view to have.
How about the one written by the God who actually created the universe, knows everything, never makes mistakes, and never lies?
Horus? Brahma? Kronos?
AiG do experiments
*shock*
Wow - it just gets better.
“It is ridiculous to argue that a supernatural explanation is wrong because it cannot be explained by natural causes.”
It is ridiculous to argue that a supernatural explanation is worth considering. -- fixed

I wonder wether he might share insight into the nature of said experiments ;)
Factum is that the bible contradicts itself so much (for example the 2 stories of creation) that, even if supernatural explanations might be allowed, there woul dbe no reason to assume that the process of creation took place as stated in Genesis.
@ atrasicarius:
No, it really is a word. It means something like "split in two," most usually used to describe the shape of a shark's tail.
Other than that, this one's a certifiable yo-yo.
Shipwreck/Bazooka '08. Because they can't be any worse than whatever we're eventualy gonna end up getting.
How about the one written by the God who actually created the universe, knows everything, never makes mistakes, and never lies?
Addendum:
Looks like he doesn´t even read his own holy book.
Else he would have known that genesis mentions god lying to the humans.
He told Adam and Eve, they would die if they ate from one of the 2 forbidden fruits. As we know they de facto didn´t die, as the snake spoke the truth when it informed Eve about the fact that the fruit from the tree of knowledge would give her knowledge, not death.
Sometimes it is useful to really read the holy books instead of just listening to the things the preachers say ;)
The Cosmic Microwave? Thats a new one. Its like god threw a bag of microwave popcorn in there, and two minutes later, ding! The universe was made, in all its caramel-flavored goodness.
"How about the one written by the God who actually created the universe, knows everything, never makes mistakes, and never lies? "
Oh, OK. That would be Allah.
Every experiment you perform demonstrates the truth of the Christian worldview because everyone who works there signs a statement saying that they will assume the truth of the Bible in everything they do.
See how that works? If you promise that you'll never explore anything that goes against the Christian worldview in your work, you have to close your eyes and ignore anything that doesn't. Everything demonstrates the truth of your worldview by default only.
Actually, every experiment we perform demonstrates the truth of the Christian worldview
No really?? Do you think that might be because you deliberately ignore any evidence that contradicts your conclusion?
How about the one written by the God who actually created the universe, knows everything, never makes mistakes, and never lies?
Does Jason have a copy of God's own explanation to share with the rest of us, or is he talking about that talking snake and rib-woman nonsense in the book by some bronze age Arab goat-herder that some people are stupid enough to think was written by God?
1. Or better yet... YOU'RE ALL WRONG!
2. Then why must you pray, why does the Bible say he changed his mind, and why did he tell Abraham he was going to murder his son? That sounds a lot like not knowing everything, making mistakes, and lying.
3. My experiments prove science. Religion is not involved. In fact, as a computer scientist, my 'experiments' prove Simulationism.
@ Princess Rot:
As far as I understand, the Cosmic Microwave Background is cosmic radiation, much of which has existed since the beginning of the universe. By observing redshifts and such, cosmologists have been able to determine that the universe originated from an initial point, hence the Big Bang. I might not be fully correct here, so someone who is more knowledgeable can fill me in if they want.
At any rate, Jason is still full of crap because the Biblical view on creation doesn't even have any evidence to back it up, so it really isn't a viable alternative at all.
Wow, that guy has a Ph.D. Probably in bollocksonomy or something.
Actually, according to AiG themselves, he's an astrophysicist with a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado.
Seems that fools aren't just born, they're made as well...

How about the one written by the God who actually created the universe, knows everything, never makes mistakes, and never lies?
Lol! So, this goes as follows, if I am not mistaken:
Q. Which myth should we believe?
A. The myth I believe.
Pure fuckery from the masters of fuckery.
Also almost all religioms make those same claims about their god, what makes your any better? (HINT: Without proof "He's real" is not an answer
"How about the one written by the God who actually created the universe, knows everything, never makes mistakes, and never lies? "
Flying Spaghetti Monsterism it is then!
Actually, every experiment we perform demonstrates the truth of the Christian worldview, and the falsehood of others, such as Buddhism and Hinduism.
For example?

This is the fallacy of inflation of conflict. It's also a major-league non-sequitur. Both steady state and big bang theories had evidence to support them. The Bible has NONE, and to try to compare it with the other two is comparing apples and oranges, to say the least.
[How about the one written by the God who actually created the universe, knows everything, never makes mistakes, and never lies?]
Agreed! The Flying Spaghetti Monster it is!
[...every experiment we perform demonstrates the truth of the Christian worldview, and the falsehood of others...]
Where's your data? Let's see it.
how can buddhism be false? it doesn't say, 'this is true', just 'try to do this, and you may, eventually, feel better'.
::massive facepaw::
....
/got nothing.
"Actually, every experiment we perform demonstrates the truth of the Christian worldview, and the falsehood of others, such as Buddhism and Hinduism."
Except that Buddhism doesn't have a creation myth
FAIL!!!

Of course, you'd require some evidence for that.
How about the one written by the God who actually created the universe, knows everything, never makes mistakes, and never lies?
I'm pretty sure that cuts out one, maybe two gods out of the thousands that are and ever have been worshiped. Gotta be a bit more specific. Oh, and while you're at it, explain why yours is true and all the others are false.
Actually, every experiment we perform demonstrates the truth of the Christian worldview, and the falsehood of others, such as Buddhism and Hinduism.
Name an example.
Here's the catch, though: You can't start with the conclusion, because that's not science.
If the Bible is a third alternative, then every other religion with a creation story is also an alternative. But, as none of them have any evidence in its favor, none of them are an alternative.
Most of the Bible is supposedly written by Paul or one of the Apostles.
What are these experiments, and how do they discern between different deities?
Confused?
