It's "Thou shalt not MURDER".
What qualifies as murder is up to the individual, but generally, it's assumed that killing another person means you are guilty until proven innocent.
This means I am against the death penalty, as we might kill someone who didn't deserve it.

Hosea describes children being dashed to pieces and pregnant women being cut open but that is OK with the god of love cos they were naughty people who did not believe !

Also, for anyone who's interested, matt wade here is preaching the Catholic party line on this one. Everyone involved with this girl's abortion (which saved her life, by the way) was excommunicated. Doctors, mother, everyone except the step-dad because he wasn't Catholic to begin with and the little girl he raped because SHE WASN'T OLD ENOUGH! That's right, they would have kicked her out too, but she was just too young.

Ah, ok. Then that makes all the violent bits of the Old Testament make more sense. Jews weren't being killed, so the Hebrews *technically* weren't breaking that commandment. It doesn't change the fact that all that stuff is repugnant, though.
A 9-year-old girl, unless she is exceptionally large in build to go along with her exceptionally early puberty, could not safely give birth to a baby. Not allowing the baby to be removed is essentially killing the girl.
There's nothing "convenient" about anything that happened to her, including the abortion itself. It wasn't a choice between life with a baby and life without a baby. It was a choice between life without a baby and death. Fundies have no sympathy for any life that's outside the womb, and until that changes I don't want to see a single damn one of them calling themselves pro-life.

The same rules from the bible specifically state that a person doesn't count unless it is male and over a month old. It also says that anyone who causes a woman to miscarry (i.e. perform an abortion) shall pay a fine to the husband. The abortionist is only to be punished if the woman is harmed.

The Bible says that not until 40 days after birth should you be counted as a member of the tribe. In Biblical time so many newborn died early and so many fetuses were miscarried that until the baby had proved to be able to live for at least 40 days it wasn't really counted.
