Christian men have always valued their women and treated them with great respect (and if they don’t then they aren’t Christians following Christian principles), but the media agenda has worked hard to hide this and to brainwash everyone into thinking they are a joke, with its focus on the occasional hipocrite such as a church leader who turns out to be gay.

Another person who has yet to read their bible.
Incest - okay
Rape - as long as she isn't married or engaged, it's basically a pickup line.
Menstruation - a woman should be put away for one week out of four.
If you sleep with a slave she should be whipped (scourged)
If you marry a woman and find out she's not a virgin, she should be dragged to her fathers doorstep and stoned to death.
Having 700 wives and 300 concubines is a-okay.
Paul said it is better to have not touched a woman
Women should not speak in church
Wives should submit completely to their husbands
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection
Women are only saved through having children
Good Christian values for respecting women you have there.
"Christian men have always valued their women and treated them with great respect"
"A female is deficient and unintentionally caused. For the active power of the semen always seeks to produce a thing completely like itself, something male. So if a female is produced, this must be because the semen is weak or because the material [provided by the mother] is unsuitable, or because of the action of some external factor such as the winds from the south, which make the atmosphere humid."
Thomas Aquinas, 1265
"Barefoot and Pregnant. Or, at least pregnant with babies. What women really want it to get married, to get laid, to get pregnant, to get babies, and to raise children. It's built into their biology, and despite a century and a half of feminist opposition to marriage and making babies, they have never managed to take the female out of the womyn."

It's a bronze age religion.
I can't really fault a bronze age religion for adhering to bronze age values, but let's not get ridiculous here. It's as misogynistic as most other religions.
Hmm... Most Christian men I've met (and I must emphasize most because I have met some wonderful men who are strong Christians) have been assholes to the women in their lives. My worst experiences with men have been with very strong LDS Christian men. Physical and emotional abuse and just using women for their own ends - yeah, it comes from being taught over and over that women are not as important as men and were created to serve men. Oh, and completely dependent upon men, as women can't get into heaven unless their husband brings them, so no hubby, no heaven.
@avowed_cynic: According to LDS doctrine, women should spend their lives serving and waiting on men. If they do this, they might be allowed to ascend into heaven... to serve and wait on the men.
What a wonderful fucking idea.
To be honest I'd rather go to hell and partaay than spend all my life (then all eternity) being a slave.
First he starts with a bullshit statement, then gives us a No True Scotsman, then a jab at the liberal media, and finally a handwaving away of a major church scandal.
This post is PACKED!
And which offense does a gay man do to a woman?. You know, that, at least, makes it easier not to opress because he can't marry her, where she automatically becomes his slave, according to virtually every religion on earth.
Riiiight.
Let me tell you a little story about Christian men. Not too long ago, there was a little device, invented by Christian men as a punishment for blasphemers, gay men and women they found to have commited "sexual sins." It was called the pear.
If a woman was thought to have committed a sexual sin with a man, this "pear" (a pear shaped metal object) would be placed inside her vagina. A crank on the outside would then be turned, and the pear would slowly open up, wider and wider, ripping her to pieces as it extended. The points at the end would perforate her uterus.
This, my dear, is what Christian men have done to women.
The men they commited such sexual sins with? They were winked away.
So much for Christian love for women.
Christian (fundamentalist) men have always valued their women?
Is that why the men at the Southern Baptist convention turned their chairs (and their backs) to the stage when a lowly woman defied them, took the stage, and tried to speak? Or how about the fundy churches that forbid any woman from taking any position of authority over a male?
If what it says in the Bible is treating someone with great respect, then I don't want to participate, thank you.
The media is run by ordinary Christian men, why would they want their own reputation destroyed? And the media was not that powerful during the dark ages...
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
