Broadview Security (formerly known as Brinks) has racist TV ads. They always depict a situation where a white man breaks into a house and then skedaddles when confronted. Like this one;

This is complete bullshit on two fronts. First of all, someone who breaks into a home with people there is not going to just run away like a scared rabbit. Second, why aren’t they showing negroes breaking in? That would be closer to the truth. Not that homes are never broken into by white criminals, but negroes are the true champions of terrorism and home invasions. All you have to do is Google the news for “home invasion” and most stories have jigaboos as suspects.

I read a lot of police reports (I'm a newspaper reporter), and actually, when a burglar is confronted or surprised, they usually run away. They're there for loot, not a fight. Violence usually only occurs when the resident tries to stop them.

Really? I got offended when Brinks phoned me up after my neighbour was robbed. I mean feeding on peoples fears when it hits that close to home, that's just low (they did it twice). The second time it happened, I asked if they were getting illegal information from the police or if they knew the guy who robbed the place as they seemed to have a lot of specific information.
But yes, thieves who are confronted do tend to run away. It seems that my spaniel (a yappy dog among yappy dogs) does more to intimidate people than my Rott (who just stands there and looks at you).
Actually, according to the Police, both whites are frequent home breakers and they do run when found breaking. And anyway, it´s a commercial WHICH IS ADDRESSED TO THE GENERAL POPULATION, THAT IS, WHITES. Think twice when posting stupid things.

When my sister's boyfriend's house was robbed while she was there, the burglar was so freaked out when he saw her that he locked himself in the bathroom and nearly killed himself squeezing out the window rather than using the door at the cost of being seen again (by a skinny teenaged girl and a terrified poodle)
As somebody who studied semiology for her thesis, the reason why they have white people is not racism. It´s because it´s a sector of the population anybody can easily identify. Second, because bulglary is, according to the police, one of the crimes, together with killing, which whites do as much as black or hispanic people. Now, the message conveys the following. Show a guy who you may well identify, with a crime frequently commited and the message will convey more easily and people will hire more their system, which is, after all, their objective. In fact, the fact that they have researched so well in the reaction of the average joe bulglar is signal that they know what they´re doing.
I can't be the only one who finds it ironic that racists are coming to the section of the site specifically designed to make fun of racists, only to make racist comments. Surely you realize that you are only going to get yourself laughed at? That the only thing you are accomplishing is providing us with another moronic comment to make fun of? That you are merely amusing, at best, and downright pathetic, at worst?
I realize that being racist requires you to be not much of a thinker anyways, but really... Simple cause and effect can't be that difficult for you to comprehend.
So you yourself say that white people commit crimes, but you call it racist when the ads show white people committing crimes? As one who used to work in law enforcement, a white person breaking into a house to steal stuff to sell for drugs is not that unusual.
Although I do agree that the commercials are a bit unrealistic, especially the one where the woman's stalker ex-boyfriend beats down her door after her date drops her off and then just runs away because he hears the alarm.
I remember when racist commenters actually tried to make proper arguments, which resulted in hours of comedy and amusement. Now they just throw random insults at everyone, which gets old very fast.

So they need to make and show an ad with a criminal of every race? Well, we wouldn't want to be sexist either so we need ads with both males and females of every race. Then there's age discrimination so we would need ads of young and old, male and female criminals of every race. Wait, what about mixed races? And did the criminal show any sort of religious affiliation? Fuck, they're going to need their own network just to show all these ads.

a) Actually yeah, running away (whether like a rabbit or not) is a fairly common reaction in such a situation. but then. why would you waste time finding that out when you could make stupid assumptions?
b) Speaking of stupid assumptions, while I'm sure there are black people who break into houses, leaping from there to "advertising campaigns that don't discriminate against black people* are racist" is a colossal demonstration of stupidity. The majority of the population (at least in North America and Europe, where I assume you are, though I could be wrong) is white. Ergo the majority of break-and-enters would be committed by white people. Even if the rate of home invasion were higher for black people than for white people (which I don't think it is) it would take a ridiculous ratio for that to change, and if that were the case I'm pretty sure someone besides you would have noticed.
