A cancer charity has refused a donation from Jerry Springer - The Opera after a religious group threatened to protest.
Maggie's Centres said Christian Voice's contact prompted it to reject £3,000.

Yeah, don't worry...the people suffering from the actual cancer are gravely concerned that some of the contributions for the charity came from sources that religious watchdog groups find distasteful. They fully support your "morality"...which makes you willing to toss away money meant for other people because the givers made fun of Jeebus.
Douches.
This Christian Voice group will hopefully, one day, find twice that amount missing from its coffers, and in the hands of this charity, or cancer patients and their families.
This group doesn't have any moral high ground by doing this. They simply reveal themselves to be petulant bigots who care more about their supersitious bullshit than about doing whatever we can to end suffering.
Just pathetic.
This is just despicable. Even if Christian Voice is too proud to accept money from certain sources, they need to mind their own business when it doesn't involve them, especially something critical like a cancer charity. Words do not suffice to describe this crime.
What Max W said.
Malkavian Jeff: I don't think you get the picture here. Christian Voice was not rejecting donations given to them ; they were protesting the acceptance by someone else (a cancer charity) of a donation from an entity they disliked (Jerry Springer - The Opera), and their protests intimidated the charity into giving up a donation worth more than $6,000. Christian Voice had no business being involved whatsoever; these fundie busybodies just stuck their collective nose where it didn't belong and were doing their best to negate a donation to a cancer charity. People seldom stoop much lower than that publicly.
To be honest, though, I can't understand why the charity knuckled under and returned the money. I not only wouldn't have returned it, I would have spent some of my own money on some favorable publicity touting their donation (or pulled some strings to get it) and contrasted that with the fundies' hateful tactics to give them bad publicity. That would serve them right.

My grandmother died from cancer. I fully and utterly support all research charities, and that any Christian group would protest such a donation is sickening beyond belief. That, and the Jerry Springer musical was a work of genius.
Well it's nice to know some of them stand behind their convictions when it comes to money, most don't. Betcha if it tipped less money in the pockets of the charity handlers they'd have gone the other way OR this was damage control and they were afraid other contributors would refuse after they accepted "dirty money" along with their "totally god given' reasons to give them "righteous clean cash".
I still know you're whores for money and had it come in unlabeled with no money trail you'd be quite happy to enjoy a night on the town.
Yeah, that's pretty pesimistic but even years ago they've recommended you research charity groups and many studies show church charities keep mostly all the donations for the church, imparting less than 5% to the actual cause.
Confused?
