Well, it was grueling for me. I went to report on the IM-PURade (Gay Pride parade) that took place in the Holy City of Jerusalem today. Just driving there hurt me. The colorful rainbow flags were already up, hanging from the city's light poles along King David Street, and it stung. Security forces were everywhere. I cringed thinking that a sex parade would soon be flaunting itself down the street with its marchers wearing smiles of victory that they can bring their private lives of what they do in their bedrooms, into our public streets.

I'm soooooooooo sorry that not everyone in the world is the same, i.e. just like you, but that's the reality. You can always move to Uganda, or colonise a whole new planet all by yourself.
Oh no! People were happy, tolerated each other and loved their neighbor! Teh HORROR!!!
How do you get it to be a "sex parade"? YOU're the ones who didn't want to allow them "their private lives of what they do in their bedrooms" in peace. This is ALL YOUR FAULT!!!
Out of curiosity... what, broadly speaking, is the LGTB scene like in Israel, and Jerusalem specifically? I mean, it's like ground zero for the Abrahamic religions. I would have assumed it to be extremely intolerant.
I knew that they recognized all valid same-sex marriages performed abroad and had a system of unregistered conhabitation. But I didn't know gay pride parades were performed in Israel.
At least he taught me something , unlike most fundies here.
just for general knowledge, "arutz sheva" (or channel 7 in English) is the radio station of the extreme religious right).
there were many gay pride rallies in Jerusalem, but some "haredim" love to complain when it to close to them.
By this same logic, any time a heterosexual married couple go out in public holding hands, kissing, hugging, or other forms of affection, or wearing their marriage rings - this is advertising to the public that they have sex. How scandalous!
And what you do in your bedroom isn't advertised every single day by your huge family, the mechitzos in your shops and buses, the way your women dress and behave following the toras hamishpachah?

Israel is by far the most tolerant country in the Middle East although, given that that includes countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia, that's not saying that much. It doesn't have same-sex marriage yet, but same-sex marriages carried out in other countries are recognized. Discrimination in employment is forbidden, gays and lesbians can serve openly in the military and LGBT couples can adopt. Tel-Aviv is a major gay tourist destination and the city was, for a long time, presided over by a gay mayor. Israel has given refugee status to gay citizens of Arab countries afraid that their sexuality put their lives in danger. Israel has was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest a few years ago by a Gay Pride anthem and the contest was won in 1998 by Dana International, a transsexual.
This quote says far more about the difference between the frummers in Jerusalem and the secular Israelis of Tel-Aviv and elsewhere than it does about Israel in general. Jerusalem is less tolerant, but the Ultra-Orthodox tend to live in specific areas, they have their own shops and transport, so it is relatively easy to avoid them if you want. That said, it's probably not a good idea to hold a Gay Pride march on Shabbos. If you are Armenian, Greek, or Palestinian, on the other hand, I imagine that things are much more difficult as those communities tend to have much more traditional views on LGBT people.
OP: "OH NOES! NOT JUST GAYS BUT COLORS! OH GAWD THE COLORS! OY VEY! I HATE COLOR!"
Homophobic & emulating Ms. Trunchbull, she hated color & cheer, too.
Ironically, Trunchbull resembled a really ugly Butch Lesbian stereotype, even she would use you as a shot-put, Tamar!
I hate to break it to you but homosexual relationships are not all about sex as you seem to think. Just as heterosexual relationships are not all about sex. Gay pride parades really shouldn't be necessary because society should accept them for who they are instead of discriminating against them. They should feel comfortable about being who they are whether they are by themselves or with a large group of other gay people. Unfortunately people like you tend to make this impossible. You are a dying breed though, thankfully.
Wait a minute,,,,
The Holy lands not willy-nilly and Rampantly killing people for violating Torah or Biblical shit like mixed cloth or shellfish eatin' for consensual chess rules /sex breaking?
Who'd a thunk?
Maybe there's some hope left.
I've always thought the idea of having parades and flags for a certain kind of attraction, is a ridiculous idea.
For instance, I don't have a "I like girls" flag or go on an "I like girls" parade.
And it's a fact that the rainbow is an ancient symbol, and to associate it solely with same-sex attraction, or any kind of attraction, is odd.
Confused?
