...I have surgery scheduled for March. I'm not worried about the outcome, but it requires an 8 week recovery period and I'm just not sure it's worth it. I've seriously considered telling the doc that I want to postpone the surgery because I really don't want to put myself through that if we aren't going to be around much longer anyway.

All we need to do at this point is circulate the news that God only accepts people who drink the koolaid..
In all reality, this is kinda sad.
Honestly, if this weren't RR, I wouldn't be able to see what's so crazy about this.
Besides, part 2 of the quote should've been included:
@RDY4HIM
On another note...saving for retirement. I won't retire for 20 more years. Sometimes I want to take out my retirement savings and start putting it towards furthering God's kingdom. I guess I'd feel stupid if I'm on the streets in 20 years, but I just actually have the hardest time making long term plans anymore.
I think they're getting worse. And that just makes me more likely to buy heaps of blow up dolls, dress them up, fill them with helium and release them wherever there are largish concentrations of fundies. I think heaps of them would just freak out and kill themselves.
In that case, have complications the rest of your life, because, no matter how much Jesus warns "you don't know the date", you still think it's gonna be soon. Ok, if it's not, don't complain.
Hey, go ahead and cancel, if it means someone who actually, y'know, appreciates their life on earth can move up the queue a little quicker then that's great!
Damn, these people really want to die don't they?
You'd think people would see that, you know, causing people to lose the will to live would be a rather obviously negative aspect of religion, but hey.
that whole thread is pretty messed up.
I really don't want to put myself through that if we aren't going to be around much longer anyway.
I thought it was gonna happen by the end of 2007? If your surgery is scheduled for March, if it happens before then you won't have to worry about it anyway.
It could be years and years from now.
That made me think oh, a voice of reason! Then I saw their signature:
SOON and VERY SOON we are going to see the King!
So, which is it?? Years from now, or next Tuesday?? o_0
I started thinking a little more on the subject and came to the realization that we do not know the day or hour.
You did not. The Bible says that.
Hmm. This makes me wonder. If a Jehovah's Witness can prevent their child from getting a blood transfusion or organ transplant on religious grounds, and various other believers have, in the past, stopped doctors from pulling life support based on religion, could "RDY4HIM" hypothetically be allowed to prevent their child from having surgery because of their belief in the rapture?
If RDY4HIM is willing to die in great pain, who am I to interfere with his wishes. After all, suicide is not a sin, it's just stupid.
"Pray for God's wisdom and discernment, but I personally would not put off having surgery due to the Rapture. I hope it is soon and pray it is soon, but God's timing is not our timing! It could be years and years from now."
See, the next guy basically told him, don't be a dumbass. There is hope for humanity.
Reading the thread this came from, not all is lost. Some of the other people there actually say things like "Well, I could just give away all my money to the church, but in 20 years that'll have been a really stupid thing to do."
So maybe this person will change their mind. While I don't exatly agree with the guy/gal, it's probably not the best thing for him/her to atually die if they need this surgery instead. Hopefully, he is not that far out there. I wish enlightenment for him/her, not death.
Even if I was idiotic enough to be a Fundie, what's the big deal? If the Rapture happened, you'd just die. Is he worried about losing the insurance dedctible?
Maybe he thinks that God will Rapture him up and leave him in his weakened, sutured, post-surgery state for eternity.
Actually, that would be pretty hilarious...
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
