[on the Supreme Court Prop. 8 hearings]
So, I guess voting doesn't mean anything. This actually makes me really angry. I'll probably never vote again if this gets overturned. Welcome to the USSA

1) What do you think about Bush v. Gore, D.C. v. Heller, and Boy Scouts v. Dale?
2) When do we get to vote on your marriage?
They're entitled to protest the result, especially since the churchs organized the vote against (hardly one man, one vote when there's a organized demand behind your decision)
But, since they lost they should wait a year before a revote.
The Constitution protects against mob rule. It is not to be amended at the drop of a hat for trivialities. We all should receive equal protection under the law, we shall all be free to live our lives so long as we bring no harm to others.
On a side note, I saw a bit of footage on CNN this morning where someone was holding up a sign saying that gay sex harms our national security. I want to know how they reasoned that one out.
Heh, Gordon Brown on Prop 8 -
Mr Brown said “this attempt to undo good that has been done is unacceptable”.
He added: “This shows why we have always got to be vigilant, always got to fight homophobic behaviour and any form of discrimination.”
Woo, go our PM!! Go!!
If it gets overturned, it won't be because it's unjust... or because anybody's trying to get around the democratic process. It will be overturned because it failed to follow the correct procedure for making that kind of change to the California state constitution. Certain types of changes require more than just a popular vote on them. If you don't like that, well, move to another state where the procedure is different, or work to get the procedure in CA changed.
Provided you live in CA to begin with, which seems like a long shot to begin with.
It certainly does mean something. The problem is you can't go majority rules on taking away rights or not giving them to certain groups of people. Quit acting like a spoiled brat and think about how you would feel if free exercise of religion was taken away and you were forced to follow someone else's religion. Now think about how people here in your own country live that reality every day when people like you vote to legislate how they live based on -your- religion. I'm not holding my breath, I know you'll find the leap from one to the other so hard to make that you'll tell me it's not the same thing, but try it anyway.
Shut the fuck up. Dont pretend you theocratic assholes give half a fuck about voting. When gay marriage is legalized in California in the next election, *you lost 12% between the first ban and prop 8, which only passed by 5%* you'll be bitching out the asshole about how evil and wrong the voters are, how it was rigged and how the courts should stop this travesty.

Easy, don't you know that gay sex and similar immoral behaviours are the reason "terrists" (and Gawd) hate Murikka? And then there is the matter of these evil gays who disrupt army morale by enrolling: how can you expect the poor GIs to be in fighting form when they have to worry about being ogled or even buttsexed in the showers by depraved homos? [/sarcasm]
So because you voted on something that was unconstitutional, that makes you unhappy?
Maybe think about what you vote on next time, you fucking bigot.
Oh no, the Supreme Court is allowed to overturn unconstitutional laws! Whatever shall we do?
Also wtf does this have to do with socialism. Homosexuality was illegal in the USSR fyi.
Translation:
"Waaaah! What's wrong with this country? Only us Bible-worshipping right-wingers get to object and take it to court when people vote in a law that's wrong on principle! Those darn pinko godless heathen faggot liberals ought to know that, once the Will Of The People[tm] says you've got to give up some of your rights, that's it ! "
"United Sane States of America"?
If you promise never to vote again, I'll send you a cookie. Double chocolate chip.
I'd love to see you never vote again.
wait, that's a great idea. we should try to convince right wing nuts to boycott voting to protest shit like this. that might actually work!
"I'll probably never vote again if this gets overturned."
A heterosexist bigot refusing to vote is a bad thing? Please, by all means, don't vote!
I'm so sick of hearing this dumbass argument.
Hey dipshit, THIS IS WHAT SUPREME COURT DOES!!! It's a little thing called checks and balances which you obviously missed when you flunked the third grade. So sit down, shut your ass up and let the people do their fucking job.
Confused?
