No. The baby is going to be a drain on resources for 9 months in there, then an additional 12 to 15 years before we can get any decent work out of him. The woman can continue to contribute during her pregnancy, and produce almost immediately afterwards. Certainly not 15 years of bedrest.

How is that valuable? How is that GREATER value? The woman already knows how to cook, clean, drive me to the ER. The kid is going to break things. It’s a given. He’s a cost until about 24. I mean, being cold-hearted and all.

No. that’s not ‘value.’ That’s cost. And the cost of insuring the 1990 model, as well as the taxes paid for the tags, will be much lower.

In the thought experiment, mother and child drowning, and you can only save one, which one do you pick? The philosophers choose the woman because she can always produce more children. The child cannot produce another mom.
I’m nothing like Catholic. I would much rather die for my children than the other way around. But in an abortion debate, the mother dying does not typically save the child
