Religious diversity a creation of Satan
Reading Ellen Goodman's column on religious diversity in America made me realize again what a despicable creation of Satan religion is. Religion is probably the best tool of Satan used to draw people away from Jesus Christ. II Timothy 3:5 says, "In the last days men will have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof." John 14:6 says, "No man gets to God except through Jesus."
I'm looking forward to the day when religious diversity is gone and there are only two sides -- the popular side and the right side. Matthew 7:13-14 says the path to destruction is wide and many people will be deceived by it, but narrow is the path to eternal life and few will find it. I hope people choose wisely while "shopping."

[InigoMontoya]You keep using that word. I do not think that word means what you think it means.[/InigoMontoya]

I'd say he's not far wrong. It is the organisation and institutionalisation of beliefs that causes the problems (i.e. organised religion). Lots of people reading the bible, believing in Jesus and wanting to follow his teachings might be a bit of a headache for the rest of us, but it's only when they all club together and start taking over that we might all end up in mortal peril.
Organised religion usually involves some sort of orthodoxy that members (and sometimes non-members) are expected to adhere to. Offending that orthodoxy now becomes inconceivably more dangerous as offending a personal belief, since all adherents to the orthodoxy are expected to be offended as one. If everyone can have their own beliefs about Jesus or Mohammed or whoever then events like the suppression of the Gnostics, the Sunni/Shiite violence, the Protestant/Catholic wars all become impossible. Where there is a continuum of belief it is hard to have a schism.
That said, Jeff's solution, get rid of all the variation, more orthodoxy rather than less, is pure fucktardedness.
Well holy shit, guys- I'm from Greenville. The funny thing is that this is how EVERYONE is in Greenville, except for some of my friends, family, and people that enjoy the act of... well you know... THINKING. And thank you, David B.- that was exactly (well, almost) what I was thinking.
You can quote your bible until your tongue falls out, but each and ever faction and sect of 'Christianity' has their own spin on the translation, and none of you can agree but you all say YOU are the only right ones.
So, until you can get your shit together, stop claiming everyone who doesn't katow to your particular brand of faith is 'satanic'.
You know how I found this? I mapped up a random small town in South Carolina, then I Googled their newspaper. Hilarity ensued.
I think I'll do it again.
That's right...Satan is personally responsible for everything that you disagree with, and prevents people from adopting the same exact point of view that you possess...
It's rather convenient that you have all the answers, don't you think?
Have you read the link to the Greenville News?
Absolute hick town. We should start a funding drive to help them, obviously their elementary school burned down a generation ago and was never rebuilt. It's the only thing that could explain such a town.
Welcome to "Gritville, SC", home to Bob Jones University, please turn your clock back 50 years in keeping with local tradition.
Then those that raise sheep in mountainous areas must be the favored ones. They walk narrow paths all the time, and sometimes they're halfway to heaven looking down on us all.
Didn't the angels first appear to sheephearders? You guys have got your metaphors all wrong!
"Freedom of* religion!"

Religion is probably the best tool of Satan used to draw people away from Jesus Christ.
We need an irony meter factory.
And yet, whenever the word "religion" comes up in a newspaper or public forum, guess who makes sure their voices get heard? And guess who gets upset when someone says, "No, I'm not religious"?
If no other religion exists won't Christianity be popular?
Actually it's pretty popular now. I guess that means it's wrong
Also heard this kind of talk before. Never ends well.
Confused?
