The phrase 'Strike while the iron is hot' comes to mind.
Never again will the forge of Liberty avail 'We the People' another opportunity like 2014 to take back the American experiment from those who would put out the light of her fire--the shining light of Liberty,...to take it back from those whose minds are darkened having denied the Creator--from those who want only to lead the rest of society 'Forward' into the abysmal slavery of their moral depravity.
Heat the iron will of the American people Lord that it may be conformed to your will and give strength and wisdom to those who would, acting in your will, strike the blow in upcoming elections that would put in place the men you would mercifully have restore the American experiment unto reverential acknowledgement of your biblical standards of righteousness that America might once again receive your blessing. Amen and Amen.

In case anyone wasn't hip to the lingo, "taking back the country" is code for "installing an ultraconservative right-wing fascist theocracy." Fortunately, as they learned in 2012, there aren't enough rich, white, male, Christian voters to make it happen.
Could you please cram some more figures of speech in there, please? I don't think it has reached critical mass just yet.
The US of A was created as a SECULAR nation, silly. The Founding Fathers had seen what wreck religion had havoced in The Old Country, and wanted to make sure that that could not happen over there.
You the People elected Obama, twice. You probably wanted to take back the American experiment from those who would put out the light of her fire, allright; the Patriot Act is just one example of violation of said Liberty under Dubbya's reign.
No funny comments this time. I'm afraid he's right about that first sentence. They have the opportunity now to actually take over and get their way. As necessary as healthcare reform is, most people are angry about it and it may well take the GOP across the finish line. As overused as this line is, I think this time we really DO stand at a crossroads: do we continue to pursue civil rights, civil equality, and fairness or do we try to return to some conservative utopia that never existed?
I really don't think we should blame Bush for the Patriot Act. Yes, he signed it. But Obama continued it, and has often been "tougher on terror" (pronounced: imposed more restrictions) than Bush was. As far as I'm concerned, if you're only discussing the current President, he owns that stuff now by his own choice.
Christopher, keep on praying that everyone will be supernaturally convinced to agree with you. By all means, it will make your ilk's continued failure to convince the public all the sweeter.

Maybe, but let's not dismiss the possibility entirely. Moderates generally don't vote in midterms like they do in presidential elections. That's how the Tea Party got into power in the first place. Make a few more gains, gerrrymander a few more districts, change a few election laws, and suddenly there isn't a damn thing you can do about them. Is it likely? No. But if we assume that they have no chance we're less likely to get people out to vote and they might actually have a chance.

Methinks the whole Death of DOMA thing is still hurting, eh? 'Iron'? Well, another phrase springs to mind:
Iron Hoof.
The verbal equivalent of Judges 1:19...? >:D

In Australia, it's compulsory to vote (with A$1000 fine for not doing so). And since I turned 18, I always vote, regardless of general or council elections.
Just throwin' that one out there.

Yeah! Down with the Republicans!!
biblical standards of righteousness
One of which is that you pray in fucking private! God forbid you even know what these standards are...
@Anon-e-moose
Commmon misconception, the fine is only about fifty bucks, and there is a whole list of exemptions for voting, so you usually don't have to pay it anyway.
@rubber chicken
To be fair, the last election telling Labor "Get your f*cking act together", as opposed to agreeing with anything the Liberal Party said. (How'd the shortest election honey-moon in history treat you Mad Monk?)

So, if you lose in 2014, will you give up and go home? Please?

Has it ever occurred to you that that might be precisely what has happened? God, as you people like to say, works in mysterious ways; what makes you think you know what he wants in this instance?
@dionysus:
Honestly, even if they win, I think the Republican party's days are numbered. They just have too many loonies who are diametrically opposed in what they want to have any chance. Putting them in power might actually speed the whole process along when they try to actually do anything instead of rallying against the Dems.
I give it two elections before they all declare one another heretics and the whole thing falls apart.
Confused?
