Well now, let's SEE.
How about pornography? Should there be ANYTHING wrong with destroying such FILTH?
How about a manifesto of HATE written BY the KKK? Is there ANYTHING wrong with BURNING such 'trash'?
If we are AT WAR with EVIL, is there ANYTHING wrong with DESTROYING the MEANS by which evil is DISTRIBUTED so far a WRITINGS are concerned?
In other words, how about a Satanic Bible? Anything WRONG with using it as TENDER and burning it?
If Christians AREN'T SUPPOSE to be involved with POLITICAL issues such as this, then WHY has HITOMI started such a THREAD to START WITH. Isn't this discussion ITSELF a matter of GETTING INVOLVED WITH THE POLITICS INVOLVED WITH IT?
I believe that it's pretty hypocritical to SPEAK out AGAINST being involved with politics by GETTING involved with POLITICS.
And folks, we are not talking about BURNING MUSLIMS. Just the "BOOK OF HATE" that they follow.
I would imagine that there is NOT A ONE of us that would object to a pastor BURNING a copy of 'gay porn' that was found in a place accessible to their CHILDREN. But as far as I am concerned, a book teaching the worship of a 'false god' could be MORE dangerous than pornography.
And the pastor couldn't POSSIBLY burn ALL copies in order to eliminate it from existence. It is MORE about what it REPRESENTS than the BOOK itself.
And ANYONE that chooses to ARGUE this point needs to READ IT FIRST BEFORE coming to an OPINION of it's validity.
Is it NOT our DUTY as followers of Christ to help our neighbors? Then if we KNOW that something LIKE the Quaran has the POTENTIAL to destroy someone, wouldn't it be PRUDENT to TRY our best to KEEP this from happening?
Or, are CHRISTIANS suppose to become POLITICALLY CORRECT and follow SECULAR ROUTES in their FAITH? you know like, 'I believe that everyone should be FREE to DO whatever they CHOOSE'. That is about as CONTRARY an attitude as could EXIST as pertaining to THE WORD. NEVER have we been instructed that it is NOT our DUTY to protect and AID them IN NEED. And them that are ignorant of the potential DAMAGE following FALSE gods can lead to are CERTAINLY IN NEED Of HELP. Is it NOT our JOB to WARN them or even keep such material SEPARATE from them that have YET to 'grow up' enough to know better themselves? You don't leave a LOADED pistol laying around on the coffee table and then act SURPRISED when your two year old picks it up and SHOOTS someone. You PUT IT UP and KEEP it separated from them.
What is the DIFFERENCE between THAT and allowing someone that has YET to come to an understanding of the TRUTH become exposed to that which is able to SPIRITUALLY DESTROY THEM? Is it OK if we KNOW better to simply LET IT HAPPEN in the GUISE of 'freedom'? Or should we AT LEAST WARN them if not DO what we are ABLE to separate them from something like that UNTIL they are MATURE enough to READ it without it having the ABILITY to negatively influence them?
Just speculation and QUESTIONS that I believe DESERVE an HONEST answer BEFORE ONE takes on an OPINION. Especially THEM claiming to be FOLLOWERS of Christ. From a SECULAR standpoint, SURE, live and let live. Let it ALL HANG OUT. Do what thou wilt shall be all the law. WHO cares, it's JUST a book. But from a 'Christian standpoint', do ANY of these REALLY apply to us 'standing by' and WATCHING our brothers and sisters destroy themselves SPIRITUALLY? I WONDER?
And Faith, what if I took THIS same attitude and applied it to service to God through His Son? Just because someone CAN offer their love to another doesn't mean that they SHOULD?..............................................
If someone was burning Bibles, would it cause ANY here to want to "GO TO WAR" over such behavior? I may well WARN them burning them of the potential consequences. But so long as they weren't burning MY copies, more power to them.
But LOOK at the UPROAR that has come about concerning the burning of the Quaran. They are THREATENING that it will cause dissension to the point that our PRESIDENT was rebuking a pastor IN AMERICA about burning a BOOK. And THEN our president has the AUDACITY to stand up in FRONT of the American people and LIE to them about Islam. Stating that we are 'NOT AT WAR with ISLAM'. While what he stated is a PARTIAL truth, (most Americans don't even KNOW what Islam STANDS FOR), they are CERTAINLY at war with US. You are either ONE OF THEM, or you are THEIR ENEMY according TO the Quaran.

I bet if we did the same I bet we would have a lot less disobediant kids. In some places of the world they still chop off theives hands, in those places there is for all practical intents and purposes no theives.
