Actually, satan has pulled a pretty clever and devious scheme here. he uses the evil Phelps group to vilify the name of Christ amongst the lost and unbelievers and gives all believers a bad name. Then he uses that to cause a way to silence the church through legislation.

P.S. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to blame Phelps on SATAN or some other such nonsense.
Dunno why that's here, it's not very fundie. If it wasn't from RR I'd say it was a moderate/sensible Christian (they do exist) making fun of fundies. I mean if I was a christian, I would certainly think Phelps is satanic.
I don't even believe in God or Satan and I think the man is pure evil.

I don't recall hearing of many churches preaching against the Phelps Gang. Perhaps the churches are in league with the devil too?

The first sentence is pretty much spot on if you're a Christian (except for the shades of NTS, but even then, No True Scotsmen doesn't mean that false scotsmen can't exist.) The second one is pure Rapture-Ready, and adds the extra point.

Anyone who understands the Phelps also understands that they're not indicative of Christians as a whole, any more than the 9-11-01 hijackers were representative of all Muslims. I'll still agree with you that the Phelps are evil idiot-fucks to the core.
Also, the lawsuit isn't a free speech issue. The WBC were sued by a private citizen in civil court, and there's plenty of precedent.

Actually, Old Fred actually believes what the bible says really should be carried out, unlike most fundies, who just want to disenfranchize and dehumanize gays like they do other "enemies". Another example of how fundies like to cherrypick the bible so they don't really how attrocious their beliefs really are.
Actually, until the last sentence, I know quite a few Christians who might agree with you. However since I assume most of you at RR are IFB and none of your denomination have had the balls to try and stop that dickwipe's church from calling itself "Baptist", I can only assume that (secretly) you may agree with him.
In other words, you don't want to claim him because you don't like him. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. And despite all your crazy conspiracy theories, there is no plot to toss out religon. First Amendment and all.
