No, NOBODY wants children to die by gun violence or any other cause. Not liberals, not conservatives... only sick bastards and strawmen. There is no rational argument that can be constructed on the basis that your opponent wants to see children die.
And people generally want more gun control because they think it will cause less death... that does not translate to wanting more death because they think it will cause more gun control.

In order (and omitting Obama): Dianne Feinstein, Chuck Schumer, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Democratic Underground and FSTDT.
Maybe we want to limit the kinds of guns citizens are allowed to own because we want to lessen the death toll in these kinds of tragedies, and maybe even help avert them altogether.
Or, you know, maybe we are just thrilled when psychos with guns prove us right over and over and over and over and over. Because we like being right, and having public outcry on our side, more than we like living in a country where NONE of this horseshit is even necessary because there are SAFE, SANE gun regulations.
But no. We have the most guns in the world per capita, thrice as much as the next country, nearly a 1:1 ratio. We also have incredible rates of gun homicides, and yes, mass murder. We have quite possibly the LARGEST legal loophole in the world when it comes to buying guns NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Our level of gun control is inversely proportional with the sickening amount of fear-driven paranoid gun-worship spread by the likes of the NRA. Fucking Somalia would probably look on anarchic American gun ownership with a mixture of disgust and awe.
Frankly, it's the many, many responsible gun owners and gun sellers out there that are the only thing that stays my hand from advocating the complete and total abrogation of the second amendment altogether. At least some people can be trusted with such ridiculously irresponsible laws, governed only by their own restraint.

Liberals want there to be a minimum of guns in circulation, which might harm or kill children. Dead children is one of the most horrible things that can happen; so many years of their lives have been stolen from them.
The only ones who seem to high-five when people are gunned down are the members of NRA and similar organizations.
In a civilized society people shouldn't need to protect themselves and their property with guns.
