Condoms are not sure because I know that there are two countries in Europe, they are making condoms with the virus on purpose," he alleged, refusing to name the countries.
They want to finish with the African people. This is the programme. They want to colonise until up to now. If we are not careful we will finish in one century's time.
If we are joking with this sickness we will be finished as soon as possible.
If we want to change the situation to face HIV/Aids it's necessary to have a new mentality, if we don't change mentality we'll be finished quickly.
It means marriage, people being faithful to their wives... (and) young people must be abstaining from sexual relations.

sounds kinda CTSTDT to me.
Also, yeah, there aren't any monogomous married couples that use condoms, no sir. Further, if you were suggesting the condoms were infected with HIV you should feel safer knowing that the virus cannot survive without a host for very long.
Y'know, anyone listening to these bishop types needs pruning from the tree anyway. I just wish AIDS acted a bit faster so they weren't taking others with them.
Of course, one does have to respect the "true believers" of religions that have such policies. Those who refuse medical treatment. Those who deny vaccines. Those who believe prayer will save them. Auto-natural-selection in progress, favoring the rational. The downsides being the rapid-spawning tactics so many religions insist on, the increased disease vectors and the ever increasing stupidity of the average human.
This guy belongs more to CTSTDT. He refuses to name them.......of course, because he just heard a rumor and passed it on without verifying the source. It's funny, since most of the condoms sold in the world are American. And man, I would say it's the other way round, since the virus started in Africa, you know, one of your monkeys had it and it was passed to humans. So, infecting the condoms is useless, since they have the source in the very place they want to depopulate, according to this guy.
This guy, unfortunately, is not alone. He is actually spreading a well-known urban legend in Africa. They think that AIDS is something brought by the Europeans to Africa, not the other way round and, believe me, they don't know what AIDS actually is.
This story is absurd, not only because the virus comes from Africa itself, but also because of the fact that HIV doesn't survive more than one hour out of the human body. It's actually very fragile. So, by the time this condoms arrive to their destiny, even if it were true, the virus would have long been dead.
I suspect it's an off-shot of the urban legend spread in Pakistan and Nigeria which prevented many children to be vaccined against polio because they feared that it was infected with AIDS too.
And don't be confused by the fact that he's religious, his ignorance on the topic is shared by seculars, moslem, animists and Chistians alike. They don't know what a virus is, to begin with.
As someone that has spent some time in Mozambque, I have to say that this is more racist than tin-foil. There is a very prevalent current in Africa of severe racism against white people - it is easier to blame whites for Africa's problem (and thus justify taking their money) than actually do something about those problems.
Just like white racists, they tend to be the poorly educated, which in Africa usually also means unemployed and hungry. While I don't blame them for thinking it, it is as stupid and -particularly- as useless as white racism. It also has very little basis in fact, sine these days most of the "white oppressors" of the colony times have been substituted by local (black) dictators.
Hope that helps,
Grey Wolf
I buy more in the theory of tin foil. Granted, there is some underlying unjustified victimhood but similar stories of how AIDS spreads have also sprung out of Africa. I think that this one is, like others, a product of ignorance.
Not fundie. CTSTDT.
Very funny though.
It means marriage, people being faithful to their wives
If HIV could be transmitted by putting it on inanimate objects like condoms, how would marriage and being faithful prevent infection? Married people use condoms sometimes too.
If I said what I was thinking when reading this, I'd have probably ended up being submitted to RSTDT.
So, Frankie, you keep telling everyone to abstain, and the young people will keep on being young people, and pretty soon there won't be enough people left in Mozambique for the Europeans to 'finish with'.
Of course, everyone in Mozambique could just move to South Africa, where HIV doesn't cause AIDS anyway!

Most cases of "lying for Jesus" just result in annoying others. This one could lead to death if anyone stops using condoms because of it and thereby gets AIDS or other deadly illnesses. In which case, the good archbishop should be prosecuted as the lying, murderous thug he is.
the African clergy are becoming notorious for blaming the West.
Still, they keep taking the money while spewing out their hatred.....
not that i believe the conspiracy for a second, but this is telling:
"... refusing to name the countries ..."
get it? by knowing the identity of the responsible party(-ies) but not making them known to authorities, he's made himself a willing accomplice to wide-spread murder
For those who think that he's lying. Believe me, in Africa, no matter if you're a bishop or the president of the country, for that matter, and specially if it involves AIDS, they believe this and much more.
I would say that this kind of "I'll let you die of a horrible disease before I let you commit what I consider a sin" mentality almost makes me agree with the fundie Baptists that Catholics aren't Christians, except for the fact most fundie Baptists I know have the same asshole mentality. "Jesus wept".
The fact that he didn't mention the European countries doesn't mean that he's lying. Actually, we're watching it with a Western perspective. As Grey Wolf explains(and I have stayed in Nigeria and Senegal), they have a very narrow-minded and stereotypical idea of Europe. In other words, they see Europe as a whole unit, you know, as if all the European countries, from Spain to Russia, and including Germany, Italy and the former West Europe countries were all culturally alike.
Contrary to what you believe, it's the prototypical example of urban legend. He can't mention two European countries, not because he's aware that he's lying, but because he has received this information, relying on the fact that he has a very obnoxious stereotype in mind of the typical snob, promiscuous greedy European who would be able to do something of the sort.
It happens here too. I have been told two similar pieces of canard that surely you've heard. One is that women have been attempted to be purchased with camels and the other is that some men rape virgin girls believing that that will heal them from AIDS(yes, you see, it's a popular topic). When I ask them where exactly it's supposed to happen, every teller mentions "some Arab country" or "some country in Africa". Are they lying to me?, nope, they're a little racist but they believe they're passing me a genuine information and they think that with evoking stereotypes of, you know, men with turbans and long robes or savage natives with a bone in the nose.
@#317741
Or it could be a 'subtle shading' of lying that he's using to convince himself it's okay to do so (resolving the dissonance).
Saying two unspecified European countries are infecting condoms may be, in his mind, 'just a claim'. He's not actually accused anyone, so it's okay.
Saying which two European countries would be an accusation. And therefore, because he knows it's not true, would be bearing false witness.
David, all urban legends have work with that mental mechanism. You're right in a way. He thinks that, the core of the story(that condoms are bad and that Europeans are in a way to blame for AIDS)is true. What he's distorting, and the reason why he's worth of mock and reproach, is that he's openly using not reliable sources, and he's is well aware of that part of the story. He is lying(like all Urban legend believers)in the sense that he does know the origin of the story(he heard it from a not very reliable source and it's likely false)but prefers to tell something else because he wants it to be true.
Wow, that's pretty shameless.
I hate these people. They exist primarily because they're the people left in charge by the colonial powers (or, alternately, extremist bastards who knocked the first lot out of office and turned out to be just as bad) and they're traitors to their people.
The Catholic Church know very well that allowing the use of condoms would prevent thousands, if not millions, of premature deaths in Africa, and yet it perseveres with a policy that causes endless suffering and poverty.
That is pure evil.
Confused?
