And no, they're not going to convert. Not if their beliefs are as deeply held as yours. All they're going to end up doing is paying you lip service to avoid a beating, while inwardly they become more and more averse to the ideas you want to sell. I've never been in combat, but I've sat at the feet of those who have. When the bullets are flying and the planes are strafing your boat, you don't care what the guys around you might or might not worship. You're too busy trying to stop them from getting killed and they're too busy trying to stop you from getting killed.
The issue of worship only comes up afterwards.

First and foremost, the good ol' U.S.A. is not, and never has been "God's nation". It was formed specifically, and described as such by the Founding Fathers and every honest observer since, as a secular nation.
But? The whole "God's army" thing really makes me laugh. These poor freaks who think that God directly controls every atom in the universe persist in making these claims that God needs armies, guns, and money.
I guess that their inability to see the contradiction inherent in these beliefs is why they are fundies and we laugh at them.
I'm friends with a former Marine who did two tours of Iraq. It deeply disturbs me that he risked his life (and lost his teeth) so a little streak of widdle like you could decide that pagans, particularly those who did not survive, are not 'good enough' to be in your army.
If you're so vehement on who is or isn't allowed to be in the US military, why don't you sign up? In fact, why not get every Bible-bashing asshole you've ever met and befriended to sign up?

Why does the army of United States of America fight for the God of Israel , then? In the Bible, after all, Yahweh is continuously referred to as the god of Israel, and America isn't even mentioned in the scriptures.
Shouldn't your army start worshipping a truly American god? I mean, yes, both Israel and USA already have kick-ass weapons development programs, but still, it's a shame that US military would also depend on a foreign-made God of Battles. What if it breaks down in middle of an important military operation? Warfare has changed dramatically since the Bronze Age, and quick response times for repairs are a matter of life and death! With all of the money spent on weapons development in USA, this would be a relatively small and a very effective investment.
