[A Christian couple faces harassment charges for bashing Islam to one of their Muslim guests.]
We need to sue muslims who offend us by openly degrading feminity by public display of humuliation by wearing head scarves, burkas, and similar acoutriments.
As well as the great offenses suffered whch are caused the rantings of muslim clergy degrading our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, degrading and denying the horrible acts conducted on God's people the Jews, and inciting their belivers with promises of rewards for muderering non believers expecially thoses of judeao/christian faiths.
It works both ways.

Christian women used to have to wear head scarves in church. Many Eastern European Christian women still do. I've seen Christian women in the U.S. wearing them, even, mostly older immigrant women.
But that's not the main point, although it does illustrate the hypocrisy in Christians being the ones to criticize a religion for having modest clothing for women among its traditions. If it's freely chosen, an article of clothing is just not an issue, and the majority of Muslim women in the United States are in a position where they DID choose to wear their head scarf. They are not degrading themselves. Forcing a woman out of a head scarf is just as ridiculous as forcing her into one.
"We need to sue muslims who offend us by openly degrading feminity by public display of humuliation by wearing head scarves, burkas, and similar acoutriments."
Damn right, Wally! We also need to take care of those Amish and Menonnites who require their women folk to cover their hair at all times.
And don't forget that the Amish refuse to serve in the U.S. military, so obviously they hate America.
one asshole couple makes an ass out of themselves.
so what?
oh wait, everything a muslim does is a sign of the apocalypse or something to you isn't it.
oi, leave the muslim bashing to us atheists who bother to read the koran before ripping their religion apart.
Then again, most of the flaws in the koran can be found in the bible.
You know, I'm beginning to think maybe the world really would be better off without religion. One less reason for these dumbfucks to mouth off.
Nah, they'd probably start the whole damn cycle all over again. Why the hell do the bad ones live and the good die?
And some of you people think all muslims should die. So can muslims openly bash Christianity in front of you?
Oh, but that's different, right?
I read the article linked from the RR thread, and to be honest, I have to agree with his point that it works both ways. Laws meant to protect you from hearing what you don't want to hear can be used against you as well.
So, wait...a muslim wearing a scarf or burka is persecuting the Xters? Ow, the great offense is too much to bear.
Consider the outrage I feel as an atheist every time I see a priest dressed up in that choker costume, or the little hats Jews wear on the back of their heads.
Or zOMG!!11!12@!h1tL3r a fish on the back of a car - you know, one of those banged up KIAs or LeCars with duct tape for one window, red cellophane stop light lens, running on the bald doughnut spare, with a bumper sticker proclaiming a dead guy is their best friend...
Haha, it is to laugh. HahaHAH , I say.
Unless there's more to it than written in the article, I can't see how this is a criminal case, just members of two equally idiotic religions arguing over their beliefs. Of course hotel owners should know better than to offend their guests, but hey, it's their livelihood.
The post in that thread about someone finding a bible being used to prop up a bed in a hotel is hilarious, as are the responses.
This lawsuit is crap. Apparently people in Great Britain have no freedom of speech. So they insulted someone's religion...SO FUCKING WHAT??? Find another hotel, ya fucking whiny cunt. If one person can sue and ruin someone's life for an "insult", then I should be able to sue every fucking person who calls me an infidel or a sinner. I'M FUCKING INSULTED! I'M SUING!
This ain't fundie. Sauce for the goose, sauce for the gander. Rated MEH.
Yeah, no. The "Christian" couple is in the wrong, here, and I bet you'd go screaming to the courts if Muslims bashed Christianity to your face.
These guys are pissed when women wear too little, and they are pissed when they wear too much.
There is no pleasing these people.
Actually, believe it or not (I'm guessing that FSTDT.net will believe and RR will not), not all Muslim women are covered head to toe in fabric.
Only Muslim women who live in countries where Sharia law is heavily enforced or those who are just conservative Muslims will cover head to toe and to wrists in fabric that is loose fitting, opaque, not sheer thin, Muslim-like, and modest in design.
There are Muslim women out there that don't follow the rule where they must protect their modesty and from the lustful eyes of men similar to the way we (the Christians) don't follow rules of wearing clothing in the Bible.
As for your idea of suing Muslims, yeah right! Good luck on that one! Suing Muslims because they wear things that make them look Muslim and not Christian and doing less than stellar things in the name of religion, man I can see that going to the Supreme Court!
LOL
And after they sue the Muslims for wearing headscarves, they'll probably go after women wearing bikinis on the beach for making good Christian men sin by being lustful. Then they can go after Catholic priests & nuns for wearing collars and habits respectively, because the RR crowd is offended by people pretending to be Christian when they really belong to a Satanic false religion.
Harassment charges? for bashing Islam?
Fuck that, even these vile cunts should be able to bash stuff, where's Freedom of Speech when you need it?
...degrading and denying the horrible acts conducted on God's people the Jews...
Like christians denying the horrible acts conducted by christians on gods people, the jews, during the crusades?
Or till the 19th century on non believing indogenous people in the USA as well as several colonies in Africa or Asia?
Freedom of speech in England stops when you're spreading racial hatred. Especially against Muslims and I am not surprised of the consequences to what happened here.
Even if you disagree with Muslim practices, the regular person is supposed to just let them be.
"It works both ways."
Uhm... if the situations were comparable. I'd guess if charges are in the works, the Muslim felt s/he was being personally threatened (and there was something to it). Are you threatened with harm simply by others existing? By wearing things you wouldn't? By saying things you disagree with?
*edit*
Well, I guess if this was in the US this would be the case, but the main point stands for our RR buddies.
We need to sue muslims who offend us by openly degrading feminity by public display of humuliation by wearing head scarves, burkas, and similar acoutriments.
Can I sue Christians for wearing crosses and WWJD shirts?
inciting their belivers with promises of rewards for muderering non believers expecially thoses of judeao/christian faiths.
Oh yes, because no christian has ever murdered a non believer.
I think the charges should be dropped. The Christians have every right to be idiotic and rude to their guests. In fact, it makes for better FSTDT quotes!
In all seriousness, though, individuals should have every right to bash religion; only the government should be restricted from doing so.
from what I remember from the case, the people in question were guesthouse owners who preached at a paying guest.
In these circumstances freedom of speech is curtailed - you're offering a service not a proselytising session: you are required to provide a service regardless of belief, race, sex, gender, or sexuality without making the customer harrassed or degraded.
No one forces you to provide the service, just if you do, you treat everybody equally!
Misogyny is rampant one way or another in the Abrahamic religions. They all degrade females. This is mostly the fundamentalist sects of the believers. Be they Catholic, Protestant, Jewish or Muslim. The only difference is the degree of enforcement.
Okay, I'll judge you on totally arbitrary points. Your stupid because I like pizza.
It works... pretty much the same way.
Normally I would take a position against being able to sue someone just for insulting your religion, but considering that the couple in question were owners of a hotel where the Muslim woman was a paying customer, I don't mind it here. I'm reminded of pharmacists who dispense morning after pills, then preach at the woman how she’s killing her baby, etc etc. Professionals are held to a higher standard.
And for those who didn’t read the original article- the reason these people may be losing their hotel is because a local hospital, who used to recommend that visitors stay there, no longer does so because of the Muslim woman’s complaint. However, I basically construe that as the hospital not wanting to recommend a racist/biased hotel, because it reflects badly on them if people from the hospital were to have a problem with the owners due to their beliefs. It would probably be no different if the Muslim woman didn’t sue, but instead just ran a campaign to let people know the hotel was run by biased idiots.
I agree that this lawsuit is total crap. Stories like this always make me thankful that I live in a free country like America, instead of a police state like Great Britain.
Anyway, this guy is completely ignorant. What is with the Jew worship anyway? How do Muslims degrade Jesus?
And since the claims made by both groups are based solely on faith and interpretation of ancient manuscripts when you see that you can never agree you will physically fight. This would not concern me too much except every once in a while that fight escalates to the point where it affects reasonable people, like on 9/11.
I have said this 100 times in FSTDT, the problem is not Christianity, Islam, Judaism or any other individual religion. The problem is religious faith itself.
What are you people talking about, with a "lawsuit?" The Muslim woman didn't file any "lawsuit."
She filed criminal charges, because she was being harassed and insulted by the owners of the hotel. Something she could do in the US too. Yes, we have free speech. No, your free speech doesn't extend to insulting people to their face.
@TheWatcher: Thank you. Harassing a customer is quite different from saying general things about religion. You don't abuse paying guests, even those whose religion is different.
This is about someone taking a legitimate route to deal with harassment, and getting shit for it because "OMG she's trying to censor those poor religion-bashing assholes!" Religion-bashing assholes who can't keep their religion-bashing out of their professional business shouldn't run a professional business in the first place.
UK law apparently allows people to be arrested for using threatening, abusive or hostile words. Based on reports in the secular media, what the couple is alleged to have done doesn't seem to have risen to the level where it might be expected to provoke a public disturbance.
In the US, it's pretty hard to prosecute merely for insulting someone.
Confused?
