[The whole thread is filled with hateful ignorance.]
It's interesting...Obama claims he is not Muslim...but his name says otherwise. Are we to be lulled to believe there is no tie to the religion who vows hatred for Christians and Jews? I choose not to sleep...

I have a French version of a Greek name. Yet my parents are Irish and English and I was born in and always lived in England.
I'm confused, am I French, Greek or, perhaps, English?
How many people named John, Luke, Paul, etc. aren't fundies?
Ugh, tbe ignorance!
Are we to be lulled to believe there is no tie
Well, you've got Insight magazine, a right-wing tabloid, which said (once, months ago) that he's a Muslim, and dozens of legitimate news outlets (e.g., CNN) saying since that that's false after doing proper research on the subject. If "lulled" means being told the truth by twenty people after one tabloid told you the nonsense you wanted to hear, then, yeah, I guess you're being "lulled" into believing Obama's not a Muslim.
My first name is a Greek name originally, my middle name is Mary, I am neither Greek, nor a Christian. My Dad is named Paul, and he is also not a Christian.
HELLO PEOPLE -- WE ARE FIGHTING A WAR AGAINST MUSLIM TERRORISTS. WE DO NOT NEED ONE AS OUR COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF Hello Randy: BARRACK OBAMA IS NOT A MUSLIM.

Hello Randy: BARRACK OBAMA IS NOT A MUSLIM.
OR A TERRORIST, for that matter.
@A nonny moose,
If only the irony could be used as a cheap clean source of fuel :) It would solve the energy crisis in a stroke, plus we would have enough left over to put something like Kansas on Pluto.
My aunt´s name is Carmen, who is also frequent in the Arabic world, so is Maryam, which is Mary and so is Myriam(same name), Yussuf(Joseph), Issa(Jesus) and Inés. Yes, many ties indeed.
Oh, come on! Using that logic, I am the patron saint of blindness, I was in The Divine Comedy and people in Sweden celebrate my feast day by wearing white robes and crowns. Just because someone has a Muslim-sounding name doesn't mean they're a terrorist.
My given name is Hebrew, and my chosen name "mling" is from The Island of Dr. Moureau by H.G. Wells.
And yet, I am neither Hebrew, nor an animal human/ hybrid.
My name means torture...
DIE ALL!!!!!!!!!!!
my name says that I'm Celtic, an archangel and a German kettle-fixer all at once...
I, however am not, ERGO you fail.
Obama claims he is not Muslim...but his name says otherwise.
For the umpteenth time, Obama is NOT a Muslim. And other people have already made the point that a name does not determine a person's nationality or religion.
Are we to be lulled to believe there is no tie to the religion who vows hatred for Christians and Jews?
The religion doesn't "vow hatred for Christians and Jews." Some of the religion's supposed FOLLOWERS vow hatred for Christians and Jews. Islam refers to Christians and Jews as People of the Book and recognizes that they are all linked.
I choose not to sleep...
Well, that's your problem.
There are plenty of people named: Peter, Mary, Rachel, Jesus, Adam, etc who are not christians.
Just because your named after a religious figure does not mean you belong to that religion.
My mom had actually bought into this stupid lie, and I told her in no uncertain terms that he wasn't Muslim at all, that this was just a lie perpetrated by his political enemies. Then she followed up with, "Well, he's half Muslim, isn't he?" My eyes nearly rolled out of my head -- I couldn't believe my own mother had said such a thing!
I asked her, "Can someone be 'half Christian,' then? 'Muslim' means that you're a follower of the religion of Islam; you can be half Arabic, or half Caucasian, or something else determined by genetics or nationality -- but you can't be 'half Muslim.' You're either Muslim or you're not, just as you're either Christian or you're not. And, for the record, the man is a professed, churchgoing Christian and has been for pretty much his whole life."
Thankfully, my mom quickly recognized the idiocy of what she had been led to think (or, rather, assume without thinking) by the religious nutters.
