So George Lucas is presenting the idea of a lightsaber(untruth) as untruth? But the lightsabers are real and working in the SW universe! So he is presenting an untruth as truth, we need to believe that it is truth otherwise the movie fails.

I'm 50 and I'm rereading my Marvel comics as I rebox them. I've known that Spiderman, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers aren't possible for a loooong time. (Neithers God, Theres a parallel for ya)
Doesn't matter because Little House, Drama stories and such real fare is boring. I live a life, why would I want to watch someone elses?
That's why they call it escapist literature.
And he can believe the Bible completely....well...He doesn't get fiction or reality. Weird
we suspend disbelief for ENTERTAINMENT!
Fantasy, SF, Shakespeare's various plays: they amuse us. They allow us to escape from the mundane. Even Greek plays (Euripides, et al, weave in the mthos of their nation)
But we stand up and remember to disbelieve
It isn't a historical documentary, it's a science fiction film!
Fundiespeak: It isn't the Bible in movie format, it's a Satanic attack!
What an idiot. It's Fiction, not Future Weapons. I mean, sure, we all wish the lightsaber was real(Then life would be +25 Awesomer) But in the meantime, know that SW is all just fiction. Also, Don't make us SW Fanboys look bad!
suspension of disbelief dude.
I read all sorts of stuff with gods and stuff even though I'm an atheist, I just ignore the fact that gods and magic and whatever don't actually exist while I read it and don't try to make fantasy novels make sense in the real world.
But I always remember, in the back of my mind that it IS fiction. I can tell the difference between fantasy and reality, even when suspending my disbelief enough that I can enjoy the fantasy without constantly thinking about how such and such does not exist and cannot exist.
this is the problem that fundies have, which leads them to throw fits at fiction, they have been trained to take suspension of disbelief to the point where they have become incapable of distinguishing between fantasy and reality. Thus they believe that all fiction must be intended to be real and throw fits about Harry Potter because they believe it must be teaching kids "real magic".
You know, I think this guy is just inarticulate and actually talking about suspension of disbelief.
In other words, I CALL POE!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
