Why would a pedophile choose to have desires for young children? Are pedophiles born the way they are?
I don’t believe most gays choose to be gay.
That being said, that doesn’t mean they were born the way they are or there is a biological reason for their condition.
Homosexuality has been linked to same-sex child abuse and rejection and fear of the opposite sex.
I have testimony of one former lesbian that grew up around abusive men. He began to hate men and develop sexual desires for other women.
The age old debate is nature vs. nurture.
Homosexual activists and leftists have tried to eliminate the debate to promote their political agena.

Is that the new "It's a choice"? That we homosexuals were all abused as children and are all mysoginists (in case of gays)/misandrists (in case of lesbians)? They seriously can't back their idea that homosexuals choose to be that anymore (since the evidence just isn't there), so they take the "it's a mental illness, we got to help them via conversion therapy aka torture" road? Sigh. Well, since you can only point to anecdotal evidence I see no reason to not just disprove you by using my own: I'm gay, I appreciate people of all genders and have no fear or hatred for women (I've even cuddled with a few of my best female friends, and while I found that emotionally satisfying and great, there was no sexual component to it whatsoever) and last but not least I had a decent, abuse-free childhood with caring parents and role models of both genders. I also knew nothing about the concept of homosexuality until AFTER I discovered that I only had sexual urges for men (which was quite the mind-screw for me now that I think of it). Please explain to me how that could possibly work if homosexuality works as you describe it. Oh and also: What about bisexuals? Did they reject both genders? That doesn't make sense in the slightest!

'If they ARE born the way they are and there IS a biological reason for their condition, it would be UNFAIR to deny them rights just because of how they are! And that would negatively impact MY self esteem!'
Anecdotal evidence is not solid, conclusive evidence and a terrible arguing point. I can easily argue from my experience that I know women who have been around abusive men as well, but they have not turned into lesbians.
And throwing around random statistics or conclusions without evidence to back it up doesn't work either.

On the other hand, I'm a male whose best friend is a lesbian. She and her wife have been together almost as long as my wife and I (26 years and 32 years, respectively). While separatist lesbians do exist, they're definitely not a majority.

The debate of Nature and Nurture for you people is "what is the most convenient to lay blame this exact second" as an excuse to "fix" something that's only a problem because you said it is for reasons that are either unquantifiable, pure supposition, blatantly untrue, or based in social engineering.
So if being gay is a result of sexual abuse as a child who buttraped the first gay man? If people aren't gay why are they rejecting the opposite sex, which supposedly turns them gay? If fear and abuse turns people gay why is your "cure" always more fear and abuse?
