[You also must be quite ignorant of Hinduism if you aren't aware of any hateful traditions within it. You do realize that it's still expected for women to burn themselves alive on the funeral pyres of their husbands, right?]
That's hateful? Explain how that is hateful please.

Wow...that's just....wow. Dude, no one who practices the Hindu faith expects widows to self-immolate. You are referring a a mythological story, a story similar to Icarus and Daedalus or the Minotaur. It's mythology, not a value or practice of Hinduism.
Of course, if one actually reads the Bible, It basically commands xians to kill anyone that doesn't share their religious beliefs. This guy probably wouldn't know hateful if it walked up and bit him on the leg.

He didn't notice it but it happened. And now that infection has set in deep.
Actually, Sandman, suttee is all too real. The practice was mainly suppressed by the British Raj in the 19thC, but it still happens, sometimes, out in the boondocks.
Well, "hateful" is being misinterpreted here (possibly deliberately). The previous poster meant it as "something to be hated," and fallingangels took it as "indicating hate." At least, that's how I see it. However, fallingangels is being incredibly obtuse here at best and pointlessly evasive at worst.

Tiny B, I was under the impression it was successfully repressed by GB at the same time the Thuggees were wiped out. I wans't aware it still happens, but surely it is no longer condoned or common?
EDIT: "GB" refers to Great Britain, not George Bush. When I refer to George Bush, you will know by the addition of "that fuckwit" in front of GB.
This guy isn't a Christian, by the way. I really don't know what he is, but he seems to think that Christianity, Islam, and Judaism are the ONLY sources of evil in the world.
Woman-hate is so common in our world, I'm not surprised this shit doesn't see it; torturing and slaughtering women is just business as usual. The "custom" of sati proves that women have no value without a male owner (laughingly called "husband"). If they did, then why in hell would they be forced to kill themselves once their master can no longer use them?
So, you would happily lay down on your spouse's funeral pyre, and let yourself be immolated with him/her?
The hateful thing here, dearie, is that the wife is treated like a piece of property, not as a person.
Even if the old practice of 'Sati'/'Suttee' doesn't happen now, what? Are you RAEG-d at the thought of so many women denying you & your hateful 'God' (of unconditional Love, natch! [/hyper-sarcasm]) of seeing them burn in Hell, as they already - and willingly - burned themselves?
There's all those Buddhist priests who used self -immolation as a method of protest - again, voluntarily ; of their own free will - so are you right-wing Fundamental ist Christains scared that there - 'Fire' - is another source of revenge cruelly denied you, and you're gonna have to devise another method of psychologically forcing others to come to your way of thinking, eh? 'Turn or Burn ' isn't working, so what next?! I'm afraid Clive Barker is way ahead of you, re. the 'Cenobites' & their unimaginably hideous torture methods, so there's you fucked, then. >:D
Subhuman4Life, take note. When 'Burning' holds no fears for us (like I say: those Buddhists; and what happens if Sati/Suttee should become popular amongst Hindu people again?!) anymore, then...!

you're referring to Sati?
Let me see:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sati_(practice)
"Sati (Sanskrit: sati, also spelled suttee) is an obsolete Indian funeral custom where a widow immolated herself on her husband's pyre, or committed suicide in another fashion shortly after her husband's death."
