So the sovereign government says that we must pay an income tax,
When the sovereign government puts a tax on sexual congress between husband and wife, will you pay?
Will you report to the authorities all those in your church who are engaging in sexual congress and not paying the tax?
Or as was asked earlier, when the sovereign government takes away the tax exempt status of churches which preach that sodomy is wrong, will you and your church capitulate, or at that point you will finally revolt against the unjust use of the tax code for immoral purposes?
See you have a socialist/communist mentality about income tax, you think it is within the preview of the state to do whatever it jolly well pleases, because Paul told us to pay the tax, (repeat Romans 13 ad nauseam).
At what point will the tax code become immoral for you? Can the tax code ever be immoral if by your logic we must always kowtow to the sovereign government because of Romans 13?

Tom, it seems foolish to teach basic civics to an adult. If you haven't learned it by now, I guess you never will.
And, yes, the tax exempt status of churches is an onerous burden on this country. It is also blatantly unconstitutional.
Please, next time, apply a little more intelligence in your arguments. It would be of help.
When the sovereign government puts a tax on sexual congress between husband and wife, will you pay?
... wait, what? That would never happen. It'd never raise enough money. A tax on wanking, now ...
You are being deliberately and idiotically perverse. As with most things, there is a limit that it would be silly to go beyond. I'm afraid you've crossed that limit with regards to your own common sense.
The rabid enthusiasm with which you propose your unrealistic scenarios says far more about your own frothing frustration than it does about any government department.
Ultimately, if you don't want to contribute, you can do a Hovind. However, I do think that churches should be taxed.
Love ya, Pule.
Move to Kuwait. They have no taxes there. The government pays you with its oil profits.
Then again years from now when the world's switched to alternative energy and oil becomes worthless it's going to be chaos in that region but if paying no taxes is really that important to you go ahead.
Congrats: you've proven that it's possible to watch too much Monty Python.
Politician: Gentlemen, we have to find something new to tax.
Second Official: I understood that.
Third Official: If I might put my head on the chopping block so you can kick it around a bit, sir...
Politician: Yes?
Third Official: Well most things we do for pleasure nowadays are taxed, except one.
Politician: What do you mean?
Third Official: Well, er, smoking's been taxed, drinking's been taxed but not ... thingy.
Politician: Good Lord, you're not suggesting we should tax... thingy?
First Official: Poopoos?
Third Official: No.
First Official: Thank God for that. Excuse me for a moment. (leaves)
Third Official: No, no, no - thingy.
Second Official: Number ones?
Third Official: No, thingy.
Politician: Thingy!
Second Official: Ah, thingy. Well it'll certainly make chartered accountancy a much more interesting job.
At what point will the tax code become immoral for you?
When it's immoral to me . According to the Bible, it never is, and yet you claim to find it immoral. Congrats: you've proven that the Bible is not the source of what is to be considered moral.
First of all, you're assuming way too much (no surprise). The government is never going to tax sexual acts. Unless we lived in a big brother society where there is zero privacy, it couldn't be enforced.
Second of all, if the bible tells you to pay your taxes no matter what, then do it. You're the ones who don't want anyone to think you cherry pick, set an example for us. Or get the fuck out of the country, either one.
"Or as was asked earlier, when the sovereign government takes away the tax exempt status of churches which preach that sodomy is wrong (...)"
Regardless of whether churches actively preach against sodomy, the day on which churches of all religions lose their tax exemption can NOT arrive soon enough.
"Can the tax code ever be immoral if by your logic we must always kowtow to the sovereign government because of Romans 13?"
By your logic, not mine. You, not I, are the one who bases his entire life around a collection of 1900 year-old stories. By the way, it was Jesus himself who said "render undo Caesar that which is Caesar's"; ergo, pay up, bitch!!
and yet these twats would cheer the tumbrils for people who would retain tax in protest against weapons research, the military, road bulding....
Hypocricy works exactly like that!
when the sovereign government takes away the tax exempt status of churches which preach that sodomy is wrong

(repeat Romans 13 ad nauseam).
Here's one of the reasons why I'm no longer a Christian: I'm not good at doublethink.
Still, father Tom N gets points for knowing that it's "nauseam" instead of "nauseum."
I don't even have a problem with tax free status on small community churchs, or a reduced rate on small chains. Those Megachurchs in Fundieland have leaders who live like kings.
Does anyone know if Obamas group will pursue the opening of their (Megachurchs and Catholics)books, I'm pretty sure the democrates were the origionators of that pursuit.
Funny he should mention this. I'm already socking money away just in case they ever institute such a progressive tax policy.
Do you guys think this will be a flat tax (like x$ per congressional meeting), or there will be some kind of variable rate depending on how long the session lasts, how many attend, etc.? I think if congress leads to conception, that should constitute a deduction of some type.
...Will you report to the authorities all those in your church who are engaging in sexual congress and not paying the tax?
- You must be spying on people if you can have information like this. This is perverted.
...you will finally revolt against the unjust use of the tax code for immoral purposes?
- This is a political action and automatically disqualifies a church from the tax exemption. So you would have no one to blame but yourself.
- Personally I don't this any church should be tax exempt. I can see no good reason for it.
In New Englan towns, you may have a sexual meeting. In the city, it's sexual council. Every state has a sexual assembly, except Massachusetts, where it's the sexual general court.
Well, that's one splendid idea. Legalise prostitution, admit it as a job, give prostitutes all the job privileges (healthcare, dental plan, etc) then tax them. Many countries did that and increased their budgets.
Oh, you weren't talking about that? Sorry, forget I said anything.
The number two mental illness found among Americans, taxes.
I've never heard anyone call taxes theft until I moved to to USA and started listening to the American right. Funny is that they have no problem if they have to pay more in "taxes" to private companies but the government! Oh Noes! Big bad wolf! Oh spare me the whining about taxes!
If you believe in democracy, and your country is a functioning democracy, then yes, you should obey whatever laws are passed by the government, even if they appear to be dumb and you personally didn't vote for them. Democracy cannot function any other way.
If you believe in democracy and your country isn't a functioning democracy, or vice versa, then why the fuck haven't you emigrated, renounced citizenship or staged a revolution and tried to fix things yet?
Revolting against a single unjust law is shortsighted at best. Revolting against the system that produces unjust laws is far more sensible.
Sexual Congress? Is that a 535-person orgy?
Oh, and seriously, WHAT THE FUCK?
Look, I hate paying tax as much as the next person but seriously. Shut the fuck up. Or do you not enjoy the benefits of: roads, clean drinking water, public education (not for your kids obviously but the benefits of publicly educated people serving you (or, in your case, paying you for their burger and fries). Seriously, we're social animals, we have to support each other (as well as the less fortunate!)
Old Viking is right. The IRS brought down Al Capone... and you think you can fuck with them?
Hubris, thy name is Fundie.
"When the sovereign government puts a tax on sexual congress between husband and wife, will you pay?"
Dude, if anyone's going to suggest that, it's your fellow fundies. Some of them have already suggested government regulation of gay sex, it's only a matter of time before they move into its straight counterpart.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
