Absolutely, sw. Marriage is under attack by a well-funded homosexual lobby, and NOM is merely defending. If the homosexuals had left marriage alone everybody would have saved a lot of money.

Personally, after we assure marriase is protected, we should seek to have the sodomy laws reinstated by overturning Lawrence v. Texas. That’s where homosexuals began their fight in that trumped-up lawsuit.

If you chose to stop spending your money on blocking social progress and codifying your bigotry into American law, then you could save it or spend it on a genuinely noble cause, like feeding the malnourished or sheltering the homeless, so shut the fuck up with that bullshit. You're not a victim, and you aren't defending anything but your own social privilege.

In what way is marriage under attack?
Do you also feel attacked when you're about to go fishing or taking a walk (for example), and a friend asks if he can join you?
That is basically all that is happening here, ya know; more people want to join the "married" status.

My marriage is not affected in any way because more people are allowed to marry. If anything, it makes me happy, that more people can now be as happy as I am in my marriage. When I experience something good, I want to share it with as many as possible. You're obviosly not like that, Mikey; you seem to want to hoard things, keep them to yourself. Was that what Jesus meant when he said to love thy neighbor as yourself, to treat the least of his people as you would treat Jesus?

I thought NOM was all about protecting marriage from us queers? Does Brian Brown and Maggie Gallagher also know that their supporters seem to want to go further than keeping us from getting married by having us thrown in prison? When are they going to denounce those with extremist views like that, eh?

Percy Q. Shunn basically beat me to it, I was gonna say that homosexual marriage is a threat to hetero marriage like vegetarians are a threat to meat-eaters.

I have asked many fundies/homophobes/anti-homosexual marriage people to give me specific, concrete, examples of how allowing gay people to marry hurts their marriage, or affects their lives in any way. The only thing I've ever gotten that remotely resembles an answer is someone saying that they don't want their kids to be exposed to "being gay is OK", because they believe that homosexuality is a sin. Still no threat to their marriage, the only effect to them personally is having to decide whether they want their kids to be accepting or not, and either indoctrinating or not.

Even if you believe with every fiber of your being that being gay is a sin, you cannot shield your kids forever from all the things that truly WOULD be sins (and please know that I don't believe in the concept of sin), like murder, bullying, rape, theft, etc. And let's not forget the dangers you open yourself up to by even leaving your house everyday... getting hit by a car, getting mugged, catching the flu. Or by NOT leaving your house everyday... slipping in the shower and hitting your head, eating something that causes food poisoning, having your residence catch fire...

These ignorant fools can try all they want to shield themselves and their loved ones from the "gay agenda", it's just sad that they can't see there are much greater dangers in the world than two people they don't know and will never know having proper marriage benefits.

Wow. That was a rant I wasn't expecting from myself this morning.

TL;DR version: ignorant homophobes are pathetic.

You're not as behind as you think you are, Brendan. Ukraine is in Europe, and they tried recently to prohibit the existence of homosexuality, by making it a crime to even mention it. They didn't quite succeed, if I understood it correctly, but I bet they will try again soon. Russia is also in Europe (at least a "small" part of it), and gays there have much harder lives, on average, than their American counterparts. I don't think Polish gays have easy lives, either.

Granted, you can debate whether Russia and Ukraine are really First World countries, but at least they ARE in Europe.

Not only that, I find it very sad that these assholes (the OP and NOM included) like to use their money against the freedoms of others, rather than for personal freedoms. Hell, aren't Christians supposed to be selfless people and not these hypocrites who have also destroyed how I see them?

Because heterosexual couples surely don't engage in "Sodomy." For example, anal sex is observed in more heterosexual couples than homosexuals (which is also a sexual move you dipshits like to use as a tactic of demonizing homosexuals). It also shows how little differences there are between heterosexuals and homosexuals (other than obvious differences, of course). Much like how I pointed out how stupid it for homophobic organizations to waste their money on criminalizing homosexuality, I also point out that criminalizing consensual and recreational sex is very stupid.

NO, Brendan, we do not laugh at America. We are amazed at its benighted attitudes and then we realise that the political situation has been sold to religion. And that all but makes us cry for democracy. No religion is democratic. In fact religion and democracy are polar opposites.

My married partner and I have just finished a meal on our terrasse (french spelling - sorry) wi two non-gay couples. None of us felt that there was anything unusual or improper about this. They have invited us for cocktails tomorrow evening. They are not the least concerned about what we may, or may not do in the bedroom. They would consider that prurient. Nor are we interested in their private life. They do not consider our marriage in any way a threat to theirs. Rather they are delighted for us that after so many years of waiting, we were able to regularise our situation to that which is the equivalent of theirs. Hence our amazement and disbelief that a democracy can isolate and victimise some of its citizens.

America, look to what you are in danger of becoming! Seriously!!! Theocracy would be your ultimate downfall.
