[RE. an article about a Creationist who claims T-rex was a vegetarian.]

They still can't even figure out if they were cold or warm blooded. What they claimed was evidence for one or the other is later discounted by more study.

Teeth don't necessarily decide who is a carnivore - human teeth for example. If humans had only lived at the times of the dinos, (going along with the long ages to make a point) - and some other intelligent being other than human had found their remains, going by their teeth they would probably think humans were all vegetarians. And they would be terribly wrong.

Chimpanzees will not eat meat, unless they can't find enough food; then they will kill small animals and eat them.

It seems to be more a matter of environment. Why chase down food if you can just graze around and find plenty?

The great flood changed the ecology. Food was scarce. Man lived in caves until civilization could be built back up. Creatures that could not adapt in the new environment died out. There's flood legends among people all over the world. There's evidence for massive flooding all over the world, from Australia to America to Europe.

Dinos ate meat or veggies? They don't know. And anyone who tries to tell you they know for a fact what they ate, doesn't really know.

Shhhh, don’t let your fellow fundies hear you saying something like that. It sounds almost like the theory of evolution as described by Darwin.

And there were massive floods everywhere at any time in recorded history and in recent times. So what? As long you cannot prove that there was one flood that covered the whole globe at the same time, you got nothing.

There is a "happy" medium between carnivores and herbivores, stupid. It's called omnivores. Our teeth are definitely omnivore teeth. At the time of dinosaurs, what would later become man (and all other mammals) was just a small, perhaps badger-like, mammal that scurried around keeping FAR away from the T-rex, Velociraptor and other CARNIVORES of that time.

Well, why don't you try to live off hay and grass, dumbass, and see how well your stomach will like that? It's not just teeth, it's the whole digestive system. T-rex teeth can't shear off grass or pick leaves from trees, but they can grip and tear through flesh.

There. Was. No. Great. Flood. Dinosaurs died out 65 million years ago, the first proto-humans emerged 4 million years ago. Yes, there are flood myths among people all over the world, as most large rivers flood periodically and humans and their ancestors have usually settled near rivers. But there is NO evidence for a world-wide flood, whatsoever. Some of those flood myths are older than the Bible, spread around thousands of years before the first Jewish goat herder emerged.

Some dinos ate meat, some ate vegetables, some ate both. That they DO know.

because meat is more nutrient dense. T-Rex didn't necessarily have to chase down prey to be a carnivore. It could have been a scavenger, that way there's still no problem explaining it's teeth.

And I've heard some loopy creationists explanations for their teeth, such as "Their teeth were long and sharp so they could shear the fronds off of giant ferns!"

Or, you know, someone who actually knew what they were doing would compare our teeth to those of other omnivores and analyze the chemical traces left in our teeth and bones and come to the conclusion that we were probably pretty omnivorous as well. You know, science stuff.

Horseshit. Chimpanzees are organized hunters and won't turn down a bit of red meat. They've been observed eating at least 35 different vertebrates, and they really seem to like the meat of young red colubus monkeys. They eat much less meat than humans do, and they typically hunt in the dry season when plant foods are less available, but they aren't hunting solely because they're driven to it by starvation. They're actually equipped to take nutrition from sources other than plants--just like we are.

So, you actually DO support evolution--you just think it took place super-quick, like in the century or so after your supposed global flood took place, and then stopped.

As for your assumption of the ease of filling one's belly by grazing instead of active carnivory, that just doesn't make it. Although chimpanzees can digest some vegetable matter such as starches and sugars, the greatest volume (more than 95%) of vegetarian fare is methylcellulose, the basic structural material of all plants. Methylcellulose is absolutely indigestible by all primates (humans, chimps, etc) and by most other animals. The only animals capable of digesting methylcellulose are those with extensively developed digestive systems utilizing rumen bacteria symbiotically. Some of these animals include cattle and other ruminents (notice the basis for their classification), rabbits and many rodentia, termites and many other insects.

Because of primate inability to digest methylcellulose, a vegetarian or fructivorian diet must include very large quantities of bulk in order to extract the necessary starches and sugars. This puts a large burden on these digestive systems which is substantially relieved when meat is consumed. Meat also is a much more concentrated form of food energy than most vegetable tissue.

Because of your apparent ignorance on these very basic points, it casts your other ideas into a very dim light. I'm afraid I can't take the time to respond to your other claims about floods, etc. But then the only meaningful response to your other disproven creationist bullshit would be a fleet of frontloaders to clear the way to reality.

That's a good thing. That's how science works, dumbass. Learning that what we thought was true is not is part of scientific discovery and gaining of knowledge.

No, if they have the same kind of scientific methodology, they'd learn from our teeth that we're omnivores.

But no evidence for a global flood.
