I am all for both sides being taught, but in public schools one needs to understand that both sides don't get taught the truth (creation) is mocked and censored, and lies of (Darwins theory of evolution) are taught as a fact, and if one even dares to question it they are often openly mocked...We need to remember the children who's parents don't teach them the truth (about creation) at home, or at church...I have talked to many atheist even debated well over 100 of them over the past 5 years online, and many of them came from Christian homes, and guess where there faith was destroyed?....In the Public education school system were they were taught false hoods and lies about Darwins theroy of evolution....Its not as innocent as many think to teach kids this stuff, the same can be said of the homosexual movement using the public education school system to indoctornate kids to accept there ungodly lifestyles?.....There are many people headed for hell, because of the lies they were taught in school...So basically kids are being indoctornated in an anti - god, anti -creation, anti - Christ establishment from the time they enter public schools until the time they graduate college...In my view point if lies that are so dangerous if believed they could cause a little child to lose his faith and wind up in hell then its not so innocent...The Secular humanist have a agenda and there agenda is fought with know one to counter its agenda in the public school system every day.

There are not two equal sides in this "debate." That's like teaching both that the stars are huge balls of gas and that stars are campfires in the sky. It's like teaching that 2 plus 2 equals 4 and that 2 plus 2 equals 5. Call me names if you must but I insist that public schools teach the best information we have, not the wishful thinking of the not very bright.
You're not mocked if you ask fair questions about evolution. Something like "What causes mutation?" will not cause you to be ostracized. Something like "But why do men have the same number of ribs as women when God took one from Adam to make Eve?" will, because you're obviously not paying attention to what you're being told, and because you're being subjective in a subject (science) that is designed not to be.

Both sides? You mean several hundred sides: creation myths . And the people who want "both sides taught" don't actually mean that. What they want is to teach evolution, then give creationism free wacks at it without rebuttal. There's no way a teacher could get up and mock Biblical creationism without getting lynched.
So if you're against indoctrinating children yet you tell yours all about your religion what does that make you?
And having creation in the classroom isn't going to "help" children being raised free of religion. It's probably more likely that the questions, comments and giggles from them might make religious children question their beliefs.
I still don't get how they can't see that 'God pointed his finger and said 'Let there be...'' isn't science, even if they believe it's true. It could be philosophy or some part of cultural anthropology, but it's not science.

Yes, education tends to have that effect. People throw out old bronze age myths in favor of well backed science. I understand that this is hard to accept and a blow to your fantasy, but be honest, you don't really believe in that god crap, do you?
I'm not against teaching both sides. I am against teaching the creationist's utterly unscientific side in a goddamn science class; I've no objection if you want to teach it in religious studies.
Oh, and I trust you'll practice what you preach and apply your "teach all the sides" argument to that religious class, giving equal coverage to all the countless creation myths of the world (which pretty much all do stand on an equal footing; no evidence all round is the rule of thumb) - I estimate that for the average school's timetable, you'll have a limit of about five minutes per religion/culture to fit at least all the really big ones in.
That's kind of funny because I was raised in a christian home, and I lost my faith in Christianity in the church (When I, even as a very young kid realized how much bullshit they spew). Put that in your pipe and smoke it Gloryhole.
Evolution is SCIENCE, which is why it's taught in a SCIENCE class room. The creation theory has no science to back it up and when you try to use science to back it up it just makes the stories of the bible seem even more fantastical. You can teach your creation theory in a place it belongs. Theology class.

No. No no no, you stupid piece of shit. Prove your goddamn claims or shut the fuck up.
Hint: You're not allowed to use the Bible either, you retarded asshole.
"Creationism" is a RELIGIOUS BELIEF, and thus NOT TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS. Schools are for teaching REAL KNOWLEDGE, NOT MYTHOLOGY.
(Though I still can't figure out *why* anyone would need to know shit like the quadratic equation. I've *never* seen any RL situation where it could be used, outside of engineering and shit.)

This is highly incorrect. I lost my faith due, not to the debate of evolution between creationism, but over the very logial existence of the christian god, as well as his supposed ethical code. It had nothing to do with being educated in a public school, or evolution vs. creationism. I know many other non-believers who were once christians who had similar experiences as mine. I went to public school in the south, in the bible belt, and half my teachers were also Sundy school teachers, choir members/directors, or having some other function like these in the church. In my biology class, evolution was barely touched upon. So no, your argument fails.
Prove Evolution wrong and you bible correct, then we'll be going somewhere.
Until, the one with more proof will be taught.
[and guess where there faith was destroyed?....In the Public education school system were they were taught false hoods and lies about Darwins theroy of evolution....]
I too was raised christian. I did not leave the faith because of evolution, but because of the coldhearts of both the church and god.
@Crazy Roper: Yeah me too, I lost my religion after I started to investigate and learn for myself. The God Delusion was the clincher that helped me realize how childish it was to believe in a God. I thought: "Wow, I can't believe I bought into this like a kid who buys into Santa Claus!"
But seriously, Shiny Mirror is shiny Glory in print.
@WMDKitty: "(Though I still can't figure out *why* anyone would need to know shit like the quadratic equation. I've *never* seen any RL situation where it could be used, outside of engineering and shit.)"
That'll be the engineering and shit which provides you with electricity for your home, a building to live in, a car to drive in, a road to drive on, and bridges by which you can safely cross rivers. All those young potential engineers had to gain an education as well as you, and the beginning of that education was as important in inspiring them to go on and do what they've done for the world just as much as the other subjects we were taught were for you and I to make our choices in life.
For the most part I didn't enjoy the Religious Studies classes I was legally obliged to take for five years at school (it certainly confirmed my atheism), and in real life I have found almost no practical use for any of the biblical drivel I learnt in that time. However I do feel that I have a better understanding of religious people because of it (if only from arguing with the vicar who taught us -- which perhaps wasn't in the curriculum, but he was a decent enough bloke to accommodate dissenters).
" I am all for both sides being taught"
As has already been pointed out there are more than two possible ones ,but let's leave that for now ,as this is followed by
and lies of (Darwins theory of evolution) are taught as a fact,
So Glory is not in fact in favour of "both sides" being taught because he/she has already decided that the ToE is a "lie" .
yeah tell it how it is

Creationism isn't science, creationism isn't taught, deal with it. Children can be taught about creationism from their parents, just like they learn all other religious idiocy. If facts destroy your faith, your faith was in something that was wrong and didn't deserve it. Suck it up already.
