God is the most selfish Being there is—He wants everything we do to revolve around Him. This is why He tells us to love Him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength. In other words, God commands us to be obsessed with Him. Why? Because He loves Himself more than anyone else, and He wants us to do likewise. This can all sound quite negative when we think about it through the grid of carnal pride, but in reality, what God demands from us is what will end up bringing us the greatest joy. Our selfish God designed us to thrive when we revolve our lives around Him. The more we think about God, crave Him, pursue Him, and worship Him, the more satisfied our souls become. We were designed to feel truly complete only when everything we do is about pleasing God. What does this set up tell us about God? Obviously His ego is huge. But in the end, we will find that we want a God who thinks He is magnificent because we were designed by God to love worshiping Him.

"we were designed by God to love worshiping Him"
Which only leads to the conclusion that your god is a crappy designer, because humans apparently do not work as designed.
What if your god is really just an immature child deity? That would explain all the anger, global flood, genocide, selfishness, and jealousy. Maybe he'll be worth worshiping in another 10,000 years or so when he finally grows up.
"The more we think about God, crave Him, pursue Him, and worship Him, the more obsessed we become."
Fixed.
If God is so selfish, why did he gave us free will?, or created us in the first place, for that matter?
> But in the end, we will find that we want a God who thinks He is magnificent because we were designed by God to love worshiping Him.
Sounds pointless and empty. A bit kinky, but it would get old after awhile.
The pursuit of god:
"God was last seen on Interstate 100 driving a black chevy pick up. If seen do not approach as God is mentally unstable as well as armed and dangerous. DO NOT attempt to reason with god, immediately contact the authorities and phone in his location. God if you're listening to this broadcast, turn yourself in, you're not well and we only want to help."
We were designed to feel truly complete only when everything we do is about pleasing God.
No, you were brainwashed to think that. If that were true, there wouldn't be thousands of religions all telling us something different about what is pleasing to God. Do you please God by washing the forks for steak and mac & cheese in separate dishwashers or knock your head on the ground and chant in Arabic five times a day?
So.... in other words we were all created to be slaves to this egotistical self serving being? No thank you.
I can see loving and praising or worshiping a God to thank him/her/it for our existence and all the comforts and good things we have in life.
But to be a round the clock slave and constantly submitting and degrading ourselves and our self worth to a being that cares nothing for us and on top of that is apparently NEVER physically or even emotionally around for us, and only uses us for self gratification and self pleasure out of our servitude?
PASS. NO THANKS.
I'll tell you who I do submit to and respect though... MY MOTHER. She raised me from a babe, taught me right from wrong, and has loved me unconditionally no matter how much I may screw up and she has been and always is there for me physically and emotionally when I need her.
She is more of a God in my eyes than your Biblical God who conveniently is never around and was never there for me when I needed help and comfort the most. But my mother was and she is a saint worthy of devotion and love.
Your Biblical God sure could take some lessons from my mother. Maybe on how to actually be a loving and upright parent that is around for and actually cares for, loves, and teaches a creation/child.
Maybe he could learn to get off his fucking high horse and actually come down physically manifesting himself and declaring his existence in his creations life and make the kind of sacrifices my mother has made for me and all her kids out of LOVE and for the well being of her child. At this point I would consider God to be the kind of absent parent that owes child support for never being around.
She's an odd type.
She says biblical inerrancy is a fluke and Gobs is three beings, not a unified being.
But she pushes a level of sociopathy even Vincent Cheung would blush at.

Fundie accidentally makes God sound more like a hateful obnoxious prick that should be hated while trying to get us to like him, part 2546218675309. When will it end?
@God:
Beautiful. Would read again.
Hlal is the dragon deity of humor and storytelling. Her symbol is an open book, and her favored weapon is the short sword or claw. [In current times, a utility knife or bare fists]
Hlal enjoys sharing stories and songs with those who appreciate such things, regardless of the listener's race or background. She has little use for tyrants, and even less patience for cruelty or bullying. She teaches that one must be free of restraint, whether real or psychological, in order to freely express one's opinions.
I think I know which deity I want to serve.

Okay, one of my goals in raising my kids was that they’d read, and learn to enjoy reading, to pick up books for reasons OTHER than a classroom assignment.
I didn’t do this by TELLING them to read, or forcing it, making it a chore, a requirement. I read to them and i read in front of them. And my wife and i talk about the books we’re reading. And when they started learning to read, we helped, we sat and listened to them, and encouraged the process.
We set an example and they learned from it. They’re all avid readers.
If God wants me to admire Him, maybe He could live a life i’d admire? Maybe not command or perform widespread slaughter? Maybe not allow horrible crimes in wars? Just, you know, a thought.
But the process is more:
“LOVE ME!”
“How many did you kill in Noah’s Flood?”
“Um… LOVE ME OR BURN IN HELL!”
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
