I do believe it is wrong for a woman to work outside the home for a couple of reasons.
I can't wait to hear them. *sarcasm*
-It causes the wife to not rely on the husband like she should.
Since marriage is often described as a consensual partnership, I think it would be more fitting for the husband and the wife to rely on each other. Marriage is not a one-sided relationship, no matter what these fundies think.
She is making her own money and she also is more likely to take control of the finances or spend money without her husband's blessings. I have seen this first-hand.
I've seen this first-hand, too. As a matter of fact, my dad often spends money without my mom's blessings and often gets yelled at for spending too much. Besides, since the wife's the one who made the money, why shouldn't she be the one to decide how to use it? Unless it's an extreme case where the spouse buys inappropriate items, or uses up all his/her income and goes into debt or becomes bankrupt or something, most of the time the spouse can use it without his/her spouse's "blessings."
God also describes the virtous woman as a keeper at home. God outlines a woman's responsibilities and none of them include jobs outside the home.
I'm so sick of fundies putting their words in God's mouth. "Oh, no, a working mother! A woman working outside the house?! Making her own money?! For shame!"
- She works yes, but within the home and under the leadership of her own husband.
Unless the husband is a lazy pig who does nothing but stay home and watch T.V. all day, he wouldn't be around to "lead" his wife, he'd be too busy at work. The wife would have to do everything by herself, without her husband's "leadership."
A woman who works outside the home is not only under her husband's authority but also under the authority of the person that she works for.
It's called having a boss. A man who is under the authority of both God and a boss is fine, but a woman who is under the authority of God and her husband AND a boss is bad to this fundie? I thought fundies would think that the more people women were subservient to, the better.
The husband is the "head of the wife."
Like heck he is. You're living in the 21st century, you idiot, you can't excuse your misogyny on the times. Both of my parents work and both of them would agree that neither of them is the head of the other. You're a horrible, chauvinistic creep.
