President plans to kill off every single homosexual
Gambian President Yahya Jammeh says he will “cut off the head” of any homosexual caught in his country.
Jammeh also ordered any hotel or motel housing homosexuals to close down, adding that owners of such facilities would also be in trouble.
He said the Gambia was a country of believers, indicating that no sinful and immoral act as homosexual would be tolerated in the country.
He warned all homosexuals in the country to leave, noting that a legislation “stricter than those in Iran” concerning the vice would be introduced soon.

Ah, the good old polticians failsafe tactic, redirect the attention from the real problems your country is having.
"hmm.... let's blame the jews ... ow ... damn ... we don't have any .... :( ... but hey ... wait a minute we do have homosexuals, problem solved"
I thought the punishment in Iran was death. What's stricter than that? Double death?
You may also have noticed that no matter what the punishment, homosexuality still happens.
Awwww ...see the good that religion does for the world? It is so understanding, peaceful, and moral...it, most assuredly, makes us better as people to have such marvelous institutions in existence. Praise be to religion!
My math teacher in 9th grade was from Gambia and he was one of the nicest men I've ever known. It's a shame that his country's president can't be more like him.
Jammeh, if you're such a believer, then why can't you fix the more urgent problems that your country faces? You know, the ones that affect everyone, not just the self-righteous bigots who are disgusted by displays of homosexual affection? Like poverty? Lack of education? For you to place homosexuality on the top of your list of priorities (or to just use it as a excuse for not solving the abovementioned problems) is heinous and despicable.
Fuck him in the ass with a wire brush. The Gambia has an infant mortality rate of approximately 62 deaths per every thousand live births. The life expectancy for those who DO survive their childhoods is a paltry 54 years. The reported AIDS rate is low, but the risk of infectious diseases is through the fucking roof!
And this pig ignorant piece of shit is concerned especially with killing homosexuals? Like this idiot could even find them. He needn’t worry, however: The Gambian government is already plenty good at killing its own people through ineptitude and corruption, and so he’s likely to be responsible for the deaths of at least a few homosexuals by shear chance.
When I read something like this my first thaought is that Islam is a mad religion for crazy people, who should probably be isolated from the rest of us. Then I realise two things:
1. The fundie Christians are every bit as bad.
2. That thought makes me as bad
So I reject it. But there may come a day when I will no longer be prepared to take this kind of shit in the name of being a decent human being. That will be the day when I feel I am being appeasing because of external pressures to be politically correct, combined with feeling threatened and endangered.
Or should I, as a gay man, already be agitating to have undesirable religionists removed now?
Sounds like it would only be fair to compare Yahya to Hitler.
With the only diference being that Yahya only targets Homosexuals and not other people (like Jews, gipsys or mentally ill people) as well
"He said the Gambia was a country of believers..."
Apparently, he missed the part about "Thou shalt not kill."
@ Xotan: Or should I, as a gay man, already be agitating to have undesirable religionists removed now?
Well sure...if you're looking to call fire down upon yourself. You already know that isolationism is bad and that such thoughts are unworthy of you. No matter the temptation, giving in to it would be wrong.
Let me guess, anybody who disagrees with him is a homosexual? Anyone who speaks out is a homosexual?
Yeah, somehow I think the actual homosexuals may not be the target.
Because all the gays, hearing they should leave, are going to leave in flocks, to be stopped at the border...and killed. Clever trap, Jammeh!
Gambia, you say . . . hmmm
Sounds like a place fundies would love to live in. Bet I won't see many of them going there, though.
from the Wikipedia article on Gambia:
"Critics have accused the government of restricting free speech. A law passed in 2002 created a commission with the power to issue licenses and imprison journalists; in 2004, additional legislation allowed prison sentences for libel and slander and cancelled all print and broadcasting licenses, forcing media groups to re-register at five times the original cost [3][4].
Three Gambian journalists have been arrested since the coup attempt. It has been suggested that they were imprisoned for criticizing the government's economic policy, or for stating that a former interior minister and security chief was among the plotters. [5] [6]. Newspaper editor Deyda Hydara was shot to death under unexplained circumstances, days after the 2004 legislation took effect.
Licensing fees are high for newspapers and radio stations, and the only nationwide stations are tightly controlled by the government [7].
Reporters Without Borders has accused "President Yahya Jammeh’s police state" of using murder, arson, unlawful arrest and death threats against journalists. [8][9]."
So ... the death penalty for gays looks like just the tip of the iceberg here.
The pest gets worse. Looking at his own Wikipedia page...
"In April 2004 he called on journalists to obey his government "or go to hell". In June 2005 he stated on radio and television that he has allowed "too much expression" in the country."
"Jammeh has been linked with the 2004 massacre of 44 Ghanaian migrants and 10 other ECOWAS nationals."
"In January 2007, Jammeh claimed he could cure HIV/AIDS and asthma with natural herbs. Some patients are said to have improved through his treatment, but he has also been criticized for promoting unscientific treatment that could have dangerous results.[17]. The full text of his speech seems to suggest that the 'cure' may in fact be addressing intestinal parasites ("With regards to HIV/Aids, they should be kept at a place that has adequate toilets facilities because they can be going to toilet every five minutes.").
Fadzai Gwaradzimba, the country representative of the United Nations Development Programme in The Gambia, was told to leave the country after she expressed doubts about the claims and said the remedy might encourage risky behaviour.
In August 2007, Jammeh claimed to have developed a single dose herbal infusion that could treat high blood pressure."
(Not just a tyrant, but a snake oil salesman, too...)
Confused?
