Rose Pascarell, the vice president of University Life at GMU, said that “Chollar handled the situation in the gentlest way possible, performing his duties as a licensed clinical social worker by explaining his concerns with reparative therapy.” According to Pascarell, prominently displaying the ex-gay resources would interfere with the goal of providing students support and would be giving them information that mainstream associations have said can be harmful to an individual.
But providing students support is exactly what the university is failing to do by limiting the LGBTQ Resource Center to only one viewpoint on homosexuality. In fact, one of the brochures that Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX) gave GMU to display was a set of brochures on tolerance for the ex-gay community, and none of the brochures were actually about therapy.

Claiming that gay people can be "cured" is pretty much the same as claiming that demons cause disease which can be cured by bloodletting. That's why "reparative therapy" for homosexuality is looked upon as harmful. Not one gay person has ever been "cured," but some of them have learned to live in denial. Many of them have committed suicide.
So by this logic, the African-American Resource Center at the university near me should be offering pro-slavery courses, just so everyone can get a wide range of "viewpoints."
I can see it now: "12 Years a Slave: Lies or BS?"
There are no "ex-gays". There are only the poor souls that have been convinced that they are evil or less than human by the REAL subhumans. Namely, "people" like you.
I hope you one day see just how disgusting you really are.
Good idea! The LGBT Ressource Center should allow the "reparative therapy" side display their point of view!
And at the same time, the Addiction Help Group should hand out flyers explaining the advantages of smoking crack, so both sides are heard!
So if I want to tell someone with cancer that they can be cured by eating a pound of almonds every morning, anointing their temples with snake oil and standing on their left foot from 8:05AM until 9:27AM, I should be allowed to do that because otherwise you're limiting me to only one viewpoint on cancer?
I attend George Mason University, and I am very pleased at the way they handled this charlatan.
The viewpoint on homosexuality that GMU offered is the only one recognized by this country's psychiatric organizations.

We can tolerate the shit out of the ex-gay community, but that doesn't mean there actually exists an ex-gay community. Why do we never see an ex-gay parade?
@Dr. Shrinker, they were expecting thousands, but only about a dozen showed up, right? It's sad to watch delusion in action, but in this case it's pretty funny, too.
Statement of Apology by Former Exodus Leaders
Why only Parents and Friends, why not the Ex-Gays and Gays themselves? Is that because many of them couldn't live in denial, and committed suicide?
Chrissy-boy, would you be comfortable with different viewpoints on Christmas? That it also said Happy Winter Solstice and Happy Saturnalia on all signs? Both of them are, after all, older than Christmas...
@ Sasha
It gets better. Doyle cancelled the first event in July due to threats by "homosexual terrorists." To my knowledge, no details about these alleged threats were released, and no reports were made to the police. While the cancellation got a lot of press in Christian-themed outlets, none of them seemed to press for details of these alleged terrorist threats. The July event took place anyway, and attracted a crowd of about a dozen people.
A second ex-gay pride event was scheduled for September. It began with a gala dinner which was to be held in an undisclosed location, and only open to those approved by VoV, allegedly for security reasons. Members of the press who were not known to be sympathetic to the cause were not admitted. Those who were admitted put the attendance at about 60. The rally the following day was attended by a mere 15 people. Doyle insisted that both events were successes.
So let's review: Doyle calls for thousands, gets less than 20 and calls it a success. He calls his movement one of pride, yet hides it away in undisclosed locations where only his friends can see it. He talks about security risks, ignoring the fact that gay pride events take place regularly in the open in spite of such threats. All the evidence suggests that Doyle is lying to his audience, lying to himself or both.
Friends? More like fiends.
People who spread this "ex-gay" moonshine around either have their heads shoved so far up their asses that they can't tell up from down, or are motivated by malice.
I believed Exodus Internationnal dissolved itself last June because they understood their teachings were bullshit.

"The intellectual rigor required to become a licensed clinical social worker ranks right up there with the academic challenge of acquiring a "Doctor of Divinity" degree."
A D.D. requires the highest understanding of theology and Bible, which means the fundies need not apply except in the Patriot Bible University as our friend "Dr. Dino" *.

*I would like to know how far he is in his studies toward his new "D.Min." and 2028 as the year of the second coming.
Confused?
