(gay marriage discussion)
Let me clarify that the only legitimate marriages in the world are ones preformed in a Catholic Church by a Catholic Priest. Anything else are the creations of Schismatics and heathens.

And so, for those of us who are Jews (who have been around a lot longer then the RCC), Muslims, Buddhists, animists, and so on, we can all just fuck off because we don't buy into the Assholes of Rome?
This attitude and the whole "our priests don't rape children" attitude are the primary reasons why the Church is shrinking fast.
Okay, and since all other "fake" marriages are legal, gays should be treated the same way as those other "heathens". You've killed your own argument before you even made it. And here I thought Catholics were against abortion.
Fuck you. Firstly, that is not how the Catholic Church looks at it. I'm a Catholic myself and have studied the Church's views (not that I agree with every one).
Secondly, you are not attacking non-Catholic marriages, so why do only gay people get your attention. Thirdly, if you did try to bring that up, you would fail miserably since the majority of Christians in the United States are Protestant.
This isn't necessarily the lamest argument that I've seen against gay marriage, but it's pretty bad.

Quite right: in fact, canon law regards the marriage as being performed by the couple, not the priest, who is in essence a witness who is required only to be sure the thing is done right. (Apart from the bedroom stuff) (Usually)
I take comfort in the fact that the reforming antics of Pope Francis must be causing Kantanska to become apoplectic on a daily basis.
Keep up the good work, il Papa!
by a Catholic Priest.
Wrong twice.
Not only does the church recognize non-Catholic marriage, according to canon law the sacrament of (holy) matrimony is achieved by the couple, not by the priest. The priest is only a witness who officiates and blesses the couple. Unlike the other sacraments, (holy) matrimony is not a sacrament that is performed by a priest or a bishop.
The only legitimate laws in the world are the ones I made myself. I've ordered all fundies to be shot on sight.
Yeah, I like this "logic."
On a less facetious note, I was married in a government office by a civil servant, and believe me my marriage is just as valid as any of the fancy mumbo jumbo that the Catholics can come up with.
Perhaps (to be facetious again) if I told my wife to pack her bags and piss off for no good reason whatsoever she would either a) not comply and/or b) get a lawyer to write me a letter with the word "divorce" prominent therein? Then we'll see how illegitimate our churchless vows are.

King Henry VIII.
Go back to school, little boy. With History 101 being top priority in your curriculum.
'Preformed', you say? Well, post-English Civil War, and the dominance of Protestantism , coupled with what said previous monarch had done, post-UK's split with the Vatican, many of the former Catholic churches were pre formed for the Church of England , so...! [/hyper-smartarse]

And thus Jesus must have turned water into wine at a fraudulent wedding party... I wonder why the Bible failed to mention that?
Confused?
