[On Noah's Ark]
baby animals wouldn't take up as much space.
God may have put them in a deep sleep - hibernation.
He did it to Adam, He can do it again.
We call it local anesthesia.

"baby animals wouldn't take up as much space."
True, but you still don't have a good grasp of how many, many animals would have had to be accommodated. Then there would also have been their food, water, and bedding. Waste removal and ventilation would have been impossible on this 3-deck barge with only one small window which was most often closed.
"God may have put them in a deep sleep - hibernation."
Well, if we are going to take that route, the omnipotent God could have just killed everything he didn't like with a word, eliminating the need for an ark or a flood. God could have transported all the "good" people and animals to the moon in a big bubble of air and then brought them back when the earth was safe again. The problem with having God solve a problem by way of a miracle is that it doesn't really explain anything.
"He did it to Adam,"
Says you.
"He can do it again."
Uh huh. Says you, again.
"We call it local anesthesia."
No, Dumdum, that would be called "general anesthsia."
Remember - If you don't know what your talking about, SHUT UP.
THE SONG:
If you don't know what you're talking 'bout, shut up!
If you don't know what you're talking 'bout, shut up!
If you don't know what you're talking 'bout,
And you really want to shout it out,
If you don't know what you're talking 'bout, SHUT UP!
Thank you, thank you! I'll be here until the end of Fundieism! (feel free to add to the lyrics. They are on the boards under music. We are up to 6 verses now, but we can always use more!)
Hmmm.
Local. (adj.)
Not broad or general; not widespread:
"Fundy" Local.
All encompassing. Entire.
Eg 1. A "local' flooding story, with derivations from the 'Epic of Gilgamash', is suddenly responsible for annihilating 99.999999999% of life on Earth (via biomass add an extra 12-15 9's if counting organisms.), covering the highest peaks, [briefly] doubling to tripling the actual amount of water on Earth.
Eg 2. local anaesthetic - fundy def - render completely unconscious for an entire year!
Eg 3. Local Hebrew myth/superstition: Truth that impacts on the entire universe!
Eg 4. (Isa 40:22 NRSV) It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to live in;
: How does this suddenly become God is everywhere?
(How does God claim to be omnipotent when he can't even repel iron chariots?)
baby animals wouldn't take up as much space.
But require much, much more attention and are far more vulnerable.
God may have put them in a deep sleep - hibernation.
Could have, I suppose, but nowhere in the Bible does it say he did. Mater of fact, Noah seemed quite awake to start sending out birds to look for land.
He did it to Adam, He can do it again.
Oh? When was this?
We call it local anesthesia.
No, we don't.
So you admit that the myth is impossible on many respects, but then resort to the: "but that's why it's a miracle". Sure. Then where are all those other miracles when we're praying for them? And why this particular god and this particular myth among many? Did you know that it's also one that was borrowed from an older polytheist myth and adapted? In the original story, one deity wanted to destroy, another helped to save the hero. It's already a bit less incredible than Yaweh doing it, then regretting it, vowing never to do it again...
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
