Well, if the wingnut shoe fits....and not all Liberals & Progressives are wealthy urban elitists. Many are average salt-of-the-earth Joes & Janes like yourself. Heck, the Lefty musical stylings of Springsteen, Mellencamp & Fogerty doesn't strike me as ritzy...it's very rugged and blue-collar. Fogerty/CNR has a nice Country twang to it's Rock and Mellencamp sang on behalf of Midwestern farmers.
Your ilk worships a ritzy, big-city, "Noo Yawk" real estate magnate with stupid hair and gold-plating coming out of his whatever. So PUH-LEEAZE stop it with the "Liberals aren't Farmer Brown" jazz!
That said, I do feel that the Left needs to appeal more to Populism and "Farmer Brown". I confess that focusing on Prof. Hippie von Egghead from Berkley more than anything is counterproductive. We need more All-American, Mom & Apple Pie "Mellancamps" & "Springsteens" standing up for "Farmer Brown", "Factory Frank", "Construction Connie", "Retail Rita" & "Harriet Homemaker".
The liberal mainstream media - especially the entertainment media - is no longer interested in catering to the majority of Americans, they want to shove propaganda down our throats under the guises of news and entertainment.
The majority of Americans are Lefties, Centrists and Sane, Trad-Conservatives (the nice ones, not wingnut fanatics & frums). Again, despite some Progressive/Permissive elements, the media's owned by the stuffy & wingnutty. Again: MURDOCH, AILES, VERIZON, COMCAST....
Fox is the only brand I trust in the media world, If I want news or want to see a movie, I only go to Fox News or its namesake movie studio (20th Century Fox) respectively.
I can understand the "news" part but I'm surprised you like the entertainment wing...what with all that Simpsons stuff and all.

And I REFUSE to call today's GOP "Republicans". They're as Republican as Mussolini! The real Republican Party died years ago. Now we have impostors. The few true Republicans left should just become Democratic.
