I think that when you get married you have consented to sex. That's what marriage is all about, I don't know if maybe these girls missed sex ed. That doesn't mean the husband can beat you up, we have plenty of laws against assault and battery. If there is any violence or mistreatment that can be dealt with by criminal prosecution, by divorce or in various ways. When it gets down to calling it rape though, it isn't rape, it's a he said-she said where it's just too easy to lie about it.

Well basically...yeah. No means No..its like a flowchart with the title "Are You Raping"
Does she say yes = Not rape
No = Rape
Make that more complicated and staple it to his dick please.
Granted, it is pretty easy to lie about it, but that goes both ways ("She fell down some stairs, is all..."). Besides, if he's that dominating and cruel, do you really think she won't be afraid to report him to the authorities?
"When it gets down to calling it rape though, it isn't rape, it's a he said-she said where it's just too easy to lie about it."
Isn't that basically all rape? Why do marital rapists get a free pass?
This is Phyllis:

I rest my case.
It can be he said she said sometimes. One man just got out of jail a few years ago after serving nine years for rape when it turned out he was innocent. Another woman has lied and claimed rape EIGHT TIMES, and she still isn't in jail. Men can be totally screwed if a woman decided to say he raped her.
Still. If someone is clearly saying no, climb off.
I really don't get this "oh it's too hard to prove rape so it must not exist/matter." The fact that someone might falsely accuse their spouse of rape does not mean that spousal rape is nonexistant or that it shouldn't be treated as a serious offense. People get falsely accused of lots of things, but that doesn't mean that we throw out laws against theft, murder, fraud, etc. WTH?
I think that when you get married you have consented to sex.
What you think is irrevelent, Nowhere in a marrige contract does a woman explicitly consent to sex, so therefore if she refuses then it's rape. Deal with it.
That's what marriage is all about, I don't know if maybe these girls missed sex ed.
I didn't think your brand of sex ed. actually covered sex.
If there is any violence or mistreatment that can be dealt with by criminal prosecution
Rape, inside or outside of marrige is violence and should be prosecuted regardless of the status of the rapist!
Schwende: From the Schlafly Beer FAQ:
Q: Are you guys related to Phyllis Schlafly?
A: Phyllis Schlafly is Tom Schlafly's aunt. She is the widow of Fred Schlafly, Tom's father's brother. She is not involved in the business.
As for the post itself, yeah, no means no in or out of marriage.
So... if you're married, the horrific psychological traumas of rape, especially by a loved one, suddenly go away? How come that doesn't apply to physical assault, too? If you suddenly gain a magical ability to not get hurt by rape, how come you're still vulnerable to physical assault?
will you have this woman/man as your lawful wedded partner, to live together in the estate of matrimony? Will you love him/her, honor him/her, comfort him/her, and keep him/her in sickness and in health; forsaking all others, be true to him/her as long as you both shall live? (I will).
I,(name)take (name), as my wedded partner, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health,to love and to cherish, till death do us part.
Now where in there does it say a woman has to put out every time the man wants some? I even got this vow off of a Baptist site, so not even they cover the sex thing.
Edit:
@ dpareja ~
I love the fact that her family is trying to distance themselves from her as much as possible. I guess she's not invited to the Christmas party.
"I don't know if maybe these girls missed sex ed."
What, because they teach you in sex ed that you must be prepared to have sex in marriage at all times, and that you can never say no? What the fuck school did you go to?
I refuse to call Phyllis a cunt. I have one of those, and it is useful and pleasurable.
I will, however, call her a douche. Why? Because both are foul, unnecessary, and harmful to women.
For my part, I think marriage implies that your partner will consent. If they do not, then that should be sufficient grounds for divorce, not for rape.
I'd love to see her say that if she married a man who wanted sex every night, even if she were tired, sick, and/or on her period. What a worthless woman. No, scratch that; what a worthless human being. People like her are a malignant tumor on the face of society. People like her are the reason for unhappy and abusive marriages.
Also, I found this hilarious:
<i><b>In a larger sense, when did you know that you identify with the Republican Party?</b>
My father used to say that we left the Democratic Party in the depression of Grover Cleveland. So we have a long history-my family was not a political family, but they were all Republicans. That was just normal, I just voted the Republican ticket all through the depression, all through Franklin Roosevelt.</i>
I'm glad to see she only cares about the Republican Party instead of the nation as a whole. What a fucking moron.
tmr: Phyllis, stick a dildo in your mouth and shut the hell up.
My thoughts exactly.
Edit: PWE, this place uses BB code and not HTML. Don't worry, I got mixed up about it on my first days here.
Oh for crying out loud . Shut up, Schlafly, you stupid old relic. You've never suffered a day in your privileged little life. You've never been on the receiving end of a crime such as rape, and you forget that it is because of feminism that you can stand up and spout such crap instead of being shut up indoors like a battery hen.
Clockworkgirl has a good point. I think there definitely should be punishment of some sort for a woman who claims to rape constantly. It would be a bugger to prove (no pun intended) but if a woman reports rape "he raped me last night" and refuses to consent to a rape kit then she should at least be told to stfu. It gets hard (again, no pun intended) when the woman is saying that a man raped her several months, weeks or years ago and is only just emotionally able to come forward about it. It took me 5 years before I was able to report my rape and I was completely devastated that they refused to go through with it (he said, she said). It's bloody cows who cry rape every time they have a fight with a man that ruin it for the real victims.
As for old Phyllis. No means no and it's still rape even if you've got a ring on your finger. (Also, it goes both ways, if he doesn't want it, no means no too)
"When it gets down to calling it rape though, it isn't rape, it's a he said-she said where it's just too easy to lie about it."
3% of rape claims turn out to not be true. When you consider how many don't even get reported...
The fact that you would support something so horrendous is atrocious. Oh, and marriage doesn't even get discussed in Sex Ed. In fact, in my Sex Ed (finished 3 years ago) we didn't even discuss the act of sex itself... just STIs, contraception and 'no means no'. Marriage was left to R.S.
That's logically inconsistent - marriage either implies eternal, irrevocable consent (in which case the women can't lie about it) or marital rape is difficult to prove (in which case it is a crime, and marriage does not automatically imply consent)
Once again, a fundie believes (wrongly) that she has the right to dictate to others how they should conduct their private lives. No means no, you old prune, even in a marriage. No is only a two letter word - which part of it don't you get?
We have plenty of laws against rape too, asshole!
It's just as easy to lie about it not being a rape.
Your marriage might be all about sex, but mine includes so much more, like cozy dinners in front of the TV, watching movies and TV-series together, fixing up our house together, working in the garden together, and a thousand other things we like to do together.
> but that doesn't mean that we throw out laws against theft, murder, fraud, etc
"He murdered me!"
"Murdered you, ma'am?"
"...I got better..."
My imagination must really be messed up.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
