The notion that “the whole universe contains no intelligence,” Mr. Gilder said at Thursday’s conference, is perpetuated by “Darwinian storm troopers.”
“Both Nazism and communism were inspired by Darwinism,” he continued. “Why conservatives should toady to these storm troopers is beyond me.”

2 facts:
Communism appeared in 1848, twenty years before Darwin formulated his theory.
And man, what do you call "intelligence"?, do you have any proof that we can find God in a natural way?, God is a matter of faith, NOT SCIENCE.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth."
wrong,wrong, it's so wrong,WRONG,EVOLUTIONDAMNIT
Accepted birth and popularisation of evolution:
Darwin's Origin of the Species - 1859 CE.
Accepted early instances of Communist thought:
Plato's The Republic - 4th century BCE;
Christian Monastic Communism - Medieval Era onwards;
Thomas More's Utopia - 1516 CE;
Robert Owen's New Harmony commune - 1825 CE.
Of particular note is Christian Communism. Quoting from the wikipedia article:
Early Christian communism
Christian communists trace the origins of their practice to the New Testament book Acts of the Apostles at chapter 2 and verses 42, 44, and 45:
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and in fellowship ... 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things in common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. (King James Version)
The theme is reiterated in Acts 4:32-37:
32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. 33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. 34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, 35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. 36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, 37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet. (King James Version)
Get all of that? Scriptural support, from everyone's favourite, the KJV even!
Actually, scientifically-minded types tend to be open to the idea that there is life elsewhere, but we haven't found it.
It's the religious types who want to be 'special' that claim there is no possibility of life on other planets, because God wouldn't dare make other people *gasp*.

I don't know about that, but you are trying way too hard to prove them right.
the whole universe contains no intelligence
"And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth!"
Oh, and both Leninist-Stalinist and fascist regimes had a habit of banning Darwin's works.
You know, fundies keep saying this, but I've never seen any evidence of that. Regardless, political parties based on a scientific theory seems impractical and plain stupid.Theories describe natural phenomenon, not societies.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
